Throughout this whole fan created saga, it's been widely reported that no, they have not and that they don't want to.
You sure about that?

There are other reports that Carolina didn’t want to trade within conference, so one of the reports is false. There’s no way that’s real. I cannot see them ever asking him to do that

They still need an offensive dman, but yes solid d coreTreliving said he was going to rebuild the D and he did just that. What an incredible job.
McCabe - Tanev
Rielly - Carlo
OEL - Myers/Hakanpaa (if he can play)
So much better than anything we've seen over the Matthews era.
Should have gotten Karlsson for Dewar and TimminsThey still need an offensive dman, but yes solid d core
i could honestly see that happening in offseason for 50% retention if Marner walksShould have gotten Karlsson for Dewar and Timmins![]()
It’s confirmed. He was asked to waive. He declined.
That’s big. He had an opportunity and for some reason didn’t take it?
I’m guessing Carolina wanted an extension done and he wasn’t willing to sign one.
Maybe, but if Carolina was the destination, why wouldn’t he go?Doubt Carolina was forcing an extension given that the player they're trading was going to leave as a UFA anyway

I’d would also think that they learned their lesson and wanted a guarantee.

Looking forward to the off-season, the only real competition will be for the 3RD spot. Also nice that there’s depth signed for +2/3 years on the cheap (Myers/Benoit/Rifai and one more year with Benning in a pinch). They still need an offensive dman, but yes solid d core
No likely he didn't want to move to red neck country .. and owner of canes is cheap cheap cheap .. think of Jacobs on steroids' .. all these kids know itThat’s big. He had an opportunity and for some reason didn’t take it?

I'd put money on him coming back to this moment if he walks.
I doubt the Leafs had any serious talks about moving Marner. It would probably off the top would he waive to go to Carolina and Trev was doing his due diligence.
Full no trade until 2028. I don’t see him waiving unfortunately. I think Matthews is our best chance of a core player waiving. We need to move Rielly in the offseason. I would look to replace his money with either Provorov or Ekblad, providing contract is reasonable.
Off-season deal, assuming we get the same playoff results…
Matthews + Robertson + Benoit/Myers
For
Byfield + Kempe + Clarke
Knies-Byfield-Marner
Kempe-Tavares/Bennett-Nylander
McMann-Laughton-Domi
McCabe-Tanev
Rielly-Carlo
OEL-Clarke
I can’t justify letting Marner walk for nothing. Not a single asset in return.
They play in Raleigh Durham NC. It’s not as nice as Nashville, Tampa or Dallas but it’s OK. A little too basketball heavy but other than that it’s good place to live.No likely he didn't want to move to red neck country .. and owner of canes is cheap cheap cheap .. think of Jacobs on steroids' .. all these kids know it
I think Rielly will be willing to waive, as will Matthews. Willy is the only one that i see not willing especially if they’re going into rebuild mode.Full no trade until 2028. I don’t see him waiving unfortunately. I think Matthews is our best chance of a core player waiving.
