Grant McCagg ripped Ryabkin on his podcast yesterday. Said he's put on weight, looks step slower. Regressed in play this year. Had an attitude. Put him as do not draft.

McCagg very high on Jackson Smith and O'Brien. Has Fiddler 15th. Doubt he's sliding into second round. If we want him probably have to take with Calgary pick.

Talking about Grant, I really like that kid Daniil Prokhorov he talked about again in his last podcast.

A bit of a random take, but I think, us fans, should have a say on who we draft (LOL), because I’ve been reading these forums and Twitter for years now (more than 10 years) and for some reason (might just be me) but I feel like we’d do a good job at picking the right players. Notable names I remember fans wanting off the top of my head; Point/Hughes/Stankoven/Michkov (still way too early to judge, but Michkov putting up so many pts right now is painful to see)

I’m curious to see if anybody has kept track… maybe I’m just crazy ;)

Misa with another big game yesterday.

Now up to 27 G and 25 A (52 PTS) in 26 GP

It may be his last season in the CHL.

This sucks for the CHL but its huge for drafted prospects who had no option but CHL or NHL before.

Gotta think the CHL makes a deal with the AHL soon that under 20 prospects can play there if drafted in the first round and the NHL/AHL team compensates them financially in some capacity.

That would make the league lose even more star players, but they might need the money pretty soon and not have much of a choice but to take it. Still, if I'm the owner of a smaller town CHL team, I'm really starting to sweat.

I'd still want to go NCAA route if I could. I mean a free ride at a top university is pretty sweet.

Misa could make the NHL next year, but NCAA is definitely a nice stepping stone if he thinks he wants more time to get physically stronger.

The only thing that sucks is that for American hockey prospects, it takes away potential spots from them at top universities if you have an influx of Canadians coming in.

I mean the best will always get in no matter what, it's more the fringe prospects who will no longer have a chance at a free ride.

The CHL should look into revenue sharing. Mario Cecchini talked about it for the QMJHL a few months ago. It might be inevitable with the new NCAA ruling, otherwise a lot of small town team will fold.

Yeah Ryabkin has been super disappointing. Only 9 points and 1 goal in 14 games in the MHL. Just for context, Demidov had 60 points in 30 games in the MHL.

I know he's now in the VHL but only 2 assists in 8 games.
Yeah and it's more than the stats. He's by far the laziest DY prospect I've watched this season so far which is frustrating because the toolkit is outstanding. He just simply doesn't give a shit out there.

He won't be a DND for me because the on-ice profile remains very interesting, but I'm sure not touching him with a 10 foot pole in the 1st.

I like Bukala scouting as much as anybody's. He has Fiddler at 35. Doubt he falls that far. I am thinking a right shot Guhle. Mrtka could be interesting now that he's playing in CHL.
Mrtka isnt as physical as Guhle used to be in junior, he isnt quite as good defensively either, but he uses his reach greatly, has good mobility for his size, covers alot of ice and he doesnt miss an opportunity to jump in the play to support the fowards. He has an offensive minded approach to the game, he is very skilled for a big man and I find he plays a smart game overall. Kid is a presence on the ice, you cant miss him lol.

I watched his last 2 games and he is being used alot in all situations, its like he never leaves the ice. I liked him at the Hlinka and joining the CHL will definitely improve his draft stock. He looks like a top 15 pick to me and could go as high as top 10 in a year where its relatively weak and uncertain after the top 4-5. Frondell cant stay healthy, McQueen with a long term injury ect.

With the Calgary pick, lets say 10-15 range, Mrtka become an interesting target IMO.

If we could come out of first round with Martone. Then Mrtka with Calgary pick. Hopefully acquire another first at deadline or draft and get Fiddler. Be many happy people here.

Then always chance at Vansaghi and Genborg in 2nd round. To top things off.
