I started looking at players for our 2nds. I’m intrigued by Bill Zonnon. Anybody can tell me more about him? His HF thread doesn’t have much comments, but apparently he’s playing as a Center this year, pacing for 100+ pts, he looks huge out there and seems physical?
Had another monster game today 2g 3a in a 6-5 Huskies win over Moncton.

Nobody going to trade high pick like that. Habs should focus on Mrtka. Has 12 points in 15 WHL games. Scoring at higher rate than Guhle his draft year

Looks small.
14 in 16 he is slowly but surely approaching ppg. I´ve said he is going to be top 10 pick and i stand by it, floor is high(top4D) and his ceiling is insane, he has everything speed, strenght, massive size, composure, bomb from blue line, you name it. He is like bigger version of David Jiricek that can actually skate.

He is struggling with his handlings right now, he lacks coordination, isnt as physical or as good defensively as a kid like Silayev was last year, isnt as good of a skater either. I soured on him personally, I see a project with questionnable upside, probably a 4th defenseman at best, a bottom pairing most likely.

Mrtka is a tier or 2 below Silayev or Jiricek in their draft year for me. Lakovic would be my prime target in the 10-15 range, I like Bear, but wondering about his upside, right now I see a good middle 6.

Carbonneau has slowed down quite a bit lately. 6 pts in his last 10 games.

Not the biggest Spence fan, didnt watch a ton but was underwhelming in my limited viewings.

I wouldnt be surprised if we trade the picks TBH.

Kind of hoping Mrtka still there when Montreal drafts but it's getting slimmer and slimmer. Big right D usually go higher than expected. Maybe a Fiddler around our Pick?

If that´s true, then you have big problem. He is tier above every Dman you have right now, not talking about Hutson who is completely differend kind of Dman from Mrtka. And Mrtka worse than Silayev cmon you can´t be serious, Mrtka has at least some offensive upside, there is no scenario he is anything less than top4D. Much better comparison is Carter Yakemchuk. I think he would be perfect partner for Hutson.

Not usually your type of player but thoughts on Jake O’brien?

Or Brady Martin

Always in favour of selecting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Zonnon would be a nice project player to have in the system. Definitely adds size and skill up front, which this team needs.

All your takes are accurate.

Lakovic should indeed be our prime target in the 10-15 range.

We should try to move up for Desnoyers though.

Hagens Chance 0:17
Hagens Pass 0:31
Hagens Sends Perreault on Breakaway 1:08
Hagens Shot/Perreault Chance 2:18
Hagens Crosschecking/Mixing it Up 5:15
M.Hagens Assist/Ryan Leonard Goal 6:40
Hagens Shot 8:24
Hagens Between Legs Shot 10:10

one of his better games at BC

Your Silayev comparison is quite unfair. Silayev was at some point ranked 2nd on Bob's list in a stronger draft, even ahead of Ivan. Some scouts even compared him to Hedman. His passport and being an LD (all three LDs on Bob's list dropped) instead of an RD contributed to his drop. Jirichek is a different type of player - an offensive D with size, while Mrtka is a shutdown D with some offensive upside. We shouldn't have the same expectations for players ranked in the top 6 and middle of the first round like Mrtka.
I have not seen him play yet, but a few scouting reports I read are quite positive.

I can understand the hesitation with Mrtka. His profile reminds me a lot of Tyler Myers in his draft year. Large right handed defenseman with great mobility but with question mark about his full potential and might be over drafted because of his rare physical attributes.
