Cohen is just a multi-billionaire with endless funds who views the Mets as a toy and doesn't care if they lose money on big contracts. He wasn't going to get beat on this unfortunately. At least the Red Sox made an honest effort, which is better than the shit on a plate they served us the last couple off-seasons.

Get Bregman or Arenado, sign Fried, focus on the defense and pitching, and they'll be in the wild card hunt. It's just that they're missing the big piece that Soto could've been. But maybe Roman Anthony will be that guy in a few years.

Whereas Henry is a multi-billionaire with endless funds who doesn't view the Red Sox as a toy?

I say we give them 24 hours to sort out their 💩 and then if we don’t like what we see we pound them into submission. The whole Soto thing, whether real or not, took too much mental energy from this fan group. Let’s pause just a short bit and see if there is a real plan or if we are in Full Throttle Part Deux. Also, please don’t get rid of any of these top prospects just to make a fat Panda type move.

If the Sox sign Bregman, he's playing 3B. No doubt about it. The "they're not thinking of him as a 3B fit" is complete bullshit. Probably due to the fact that nobody in the organization has had a proper conversation with Devers yet about him potentially changing positions.

If they are planning on bringing in a 3B (and they should) they've got to manage that conversation with Devers well.

The Murphy part is curious unless they plan on moving Wong or Teel. He was dreadful at the plate last season but is historically elite behind the plate. He starts making bigger money starting this season at 15 million per. Could they deal Yoshida for him, or get the Braves to pay a portion? Again it only makes sense to me if the Sox are moving a catcher as part of a bigger deal. Wong and Teel should both have very good value.

Yes and it has been a massively successful investment financially.
Right- he cares about the bottom line. Cohen does not, he is a lifelong die hard Mets fan who views them as a toy.

Had an oblique injury to start the year and then when he returned Chase Anderson drilled him on the elbow and he went 3-31 after that

Superb defensive catcher, has RHH pop. I like him a lot

Steve Cohen's net worth is 3.5x John Henry's. It's an absurd amount of wealth that us commoners couldn't even comprehend. He could f*** around and burn 10 billion dollars (or thirteen Juan Soto contracts) and still be twice as rich as John.

And as CDJ said, Henry is still trying to grow FSG as an organization. Sports ownership is a business for him, he wants to expand his portfolio and add more profit-generating franchises under his ownership. He keeps bringing in partners like Lebron because he needs to generate capital.

Cohen stole made his billions through insider trading hedge fund management and doesn't need the Mets to perform as a business or turn a profit, he just wants to win and will pay for it.

The one who is not going to survive in this ecosystem that nobody talks about is Hal Steinbrenner. He has no other source of wealth other than the Yankees that he inherited from his dad. The New York Yankees do generate a huge ass profit every year which has let him keep things running and then being near the top in payroll, but beyond that Yankee Global Enterprises has a paltry set of holdings compared to FSG. I think we're a half decade at most from Steinbrenner voluntarily selling or falling victim to a hostile takeover.

I'm definitely not opposed as he can definitely help a pitching staff if healthy. Just have to wonder who goes if he is coming in?

Miller and Woo are the cornerstone of their rotation, both young, controlled until 2030.
It would take much more than Casas to get one of them.
I wonder if the ChiSox feel the same way about Casas as part of an offer for Crochet?
We might have to include someone like Mayer in the deal?
Pitching is at a premium.

This is what I suspected all along. The Mariners and other teams are unreasonable concerning their precious arms. Rightfully or no, that's what teams should usually be unless backed into a corner.
The WSox are going to move Crochet, because they may suspect that he's a waiting injury risk and may have had his best season (difficult to bet one someone having another 4+ WAR season).

They can't get a promising pitcher via trade route unless it hurts their prospect / players pool. To a degree it wouldn't just make more sense to just hand out money for Fried / Burnes. I think I would rather have Eovaldi back for 2 years than overpaying in a trade scenario.

Wong is a 1b. A borderline backup who had a good outlier year at the plate. I hope Teel stays.

I can't think of a single reason to do this at the moment.
No, not at this moment. Try to trade him. I doubt you find a suitor. If you then upgrade your team to where there is really no place for him then I would hope it's under consideration. If you are willing to go $700m for Soto surely you can eat some money for the betterment of your big league team.

One thing is for sure, FSG being the Interest Kings at least makes for an interesting off-season. Seems I follow the off-season more than the actual season the past couple of years.

Alex Bregman has the highest OPS in history at Fenway minimum 20 games

1. Bregman 1240
2. Frank Robinson 1188
4. Ted Williams 1149

With bone chips in elbow removed in Nov he shoukd be healthy opening day

His D & offensive metrics still very good at Fenway in 24 he was a left field machine

His spray chart screams Fenway and they said he and Teoscar Hernandez are two of the best hitters in history for right handed bats

Imo, they can go pound sand.
Yeh appreciate the confirmation but

Duran- Rafaela- Anthony

So sign them both! Easy peazy lemon squeazy right?

Kyle Tucker rumors make no sense and I can’t imagine why he’d be available in any capacity. However, he’d be on the short list of players I would be ok with moving Anthony for if they had to
