Kalvin Phillips to West Ham on loan seems to be happening. Makes sense for both parties, although I did think he'd fit in especially well at Spurs.
Really? I don't see it.

To me he seems quite similar to Hojbjerg, who really hasn't been a great fit for Ange. They have been listening to offers for him since the summer. Might as well just keep him for the season instead of selling him now and loaning in Phillips.

What Spurs need in midfield depends on how Ange sees Bentancur IMO. If Ange sees him as an 8, they need a 6, and vice versa.

Phillips provides more offensive presence and ability on the ball while half asleep than Hojbjerg does on his best day. I think he's a perfect fit for the 6 spot in Ange-ball.

Admittedly I haven't watched Phillips much as of late, but considering his limited minutes, who can blame me.

I agree that he is probably more press-resistant than Hojbjerg, but I can't say I remember him as much of an offensive presence. Even Hojbjerg had nine goal contributions in the league last season.

Ultimately I see little sense in Spurs loaning in a midfielder. And if they were to add one they should either aim for someone better than Phillips or a young, depth player with room to grow.

All I read for like a year was about how Fabinho was washed (and he was - Koulibaly played a better second half of the season than he did) and now his transfer was the fair value one lmaao
Was Ruben Neves and Mitrovic fair value?
Was Daniel James (who was shit with Man United) worth the fee Leeds paid?
Was Antony worth 100M?

I think the biggest issue is NOT the value of the fee but the related party ownership but at the same time, Red bull has it, Man City has it, Chelsea has it and soon Man United will have it. Nobody cares, and I do not care what Newcastle do either.

It has been accepted for a longtime now in the very clean financial world of football.

Think we might see a center mid come in now as well…
Anyone linked? I certainly wouldn’t classify AV as a selling club

My friend who likes AV says they are clearing out minutes for Tim Irogbonem

You’d be very, very wrong. Soucek is a black hole in all respects.
I'm not saying Soucek is good, I'm saying he might be better than Phillips

Neuhaus spuriously linked earlier today, not sure that it is real.
Iroegbunam is an interesting one... a midfielder but isn't a defensive mid like Dendoncker. He's played further forward from what I understand at QPR last year. Hasn't gotten a lot of minutes this year at all due to injuries and other players. I think he gets sold in the summer btw

Despite being at risk of failing Sustainability rules, Newcastle don’t have to sell Trippier to Bayern because they can launder Almiron to the Saudi league.

Man this was literally the reason I stopped coming to these boards. Feels like every thread turns into a pissing match between the ethics police.

By the way it’s not just you. This was just the latest post I saw.

Agreed. Let’s keep this thread for the transfers only!

Oh, some of them really aren't very good.

But they could do better than going to Leeds / Nottingham Forrest.

At least go somewhere you can play. Shit, Pulisic seems to have made the right move.

And Pulisic also made a poor move going to Chelsea. Going to a too big of club is another major issue, looking at you Steffen.
