We definitely need more fair value transfers like Fabinho. It's unacceptable that teams are able to get unreasonable fees from the Saudis.
I mean both of our clubs voted against the multi-ownership transfers.

Also this isn’t comparable to the Fabinho transfer for a couple of reasons, but most importantly, LFC wasn’t under the microscope for being at risk for Sustainability violation when they sent Fabinho out. They just said yes to the offer. A week ago valid sources were saying Newcastle might have to sell guys like Isak or Bruno to balance the books. And out of the ether we have Saudi club, at a time where many players are trying to get out of that league because they’ve realized it’s trash giving Newcastle money for a 30yr old that no one else wants? There is a difference between “fair value transfers” and a clubs under the same umbrella dealing with each other to circumvent sustainability rules.

But again, our clubs voted against this kind of stuff

well, this is interesting. Unai loaning youngsters to the club he & his family own in Spain.

waffling to deflect

Where is the waffle? Where is the deflect?

Here is the waffle:

I don’t think you know what waffling means, these are not the same scenarios, and I haven’t changed my mind here

All I read for like a year was about how Fabinho was washed (and he was - Koulibaly played a better second half of the season than he did) and now his transfer was the fair value one lmaao

A couple of big moves out of France, Reims' Matuziwa moves to Rennes from Reims for a little over 15 million. Not familiar with him but he's got GREAT underlying numbers, some of his closest comparatives this year have been Caicedo and Emre Can.

Djalo goes from Lille to Juventus for a little over 3 million. The bargain bin price can be explained by the fact the Portuguese center back has a ligament tear at the moment, and his contract was about to expire this summer.

- Are LFC owned by Saudi? Did LFC vote against these kind of transfers/multiclub bail out model? How did your club vote?

- Were LFC at risk of breaking sustainability rules if they didn’t sell Fabinho; if so, prove it.

Not even sure how Fabinho got brought into this, when the issue is clearly Newcastle circumventing Sustainability rules; which they are clearly at risk of doing. “Fair Value” for a transfer is subjective is subjective at best. If you can’t see the differences between these scenarios, you are choosing not to

The issue, you can't pick and choose what should be fair market and what shouldn't be fair market. At the end of the day, Saudi in general will have to overpay on players they purchase. Both in transfer fees and wages.

First off, Why can’t I?

Secondly Saudi “overpaying” is the issue when it’s to bail out their crown jewel asset. Newcastle was at risk of flunking Sustainability rules like Everton and Forest did. That is a fact. The fact that they can pull a parachute cord like this is unfair.

If you want to say “get more votes next time” just say that. Chelsea (for example) wants shit like this. The majority of Other clubs don’t. So yeah, don’t make this about fair value when the fact is you are probably glad this is in place because your club is one of the few on the planet that benefits from it

The main argument with China isn't that players left and came back, it's that after an initial push to get bigger named players like Oscar, Hulk, etc., they failed to keep it up. Same thing will happen with Saudi, they will overpay for old or mid talent, but in general players will no longer want to go there for a variety of reasons.

They failed to keep it up because a world altering event created restrictions that didn't allow players any freedom to go anywhere and burst the financial bubble of most of the teams.

China didn't go for the mega stars. They got well named talented players to boost their own league. It wasn't meant to compete with Europe. The goal was to increase national interest in hopes of developing their own players to improve the National team.

This isn't like Saudi Arabia where now players are giving up huge salary to leave.

And Oscar is a poor example to use because he still is playing in China.

Because my argument was never about them immediately leaving like Henderson, I don't even expect the bulk to leave like Henderson. Leagues in countries with dramatically different cultures will have to overpay for talent and a limited amount of players will even entertain the idea in the first place.

And because the Saudi clubs will have to overpay, regardless of who they purchase from, it's why fans claiming fair market on some deals and not others is stupid.
