Are you really surprised that the offense has been this bad though?

The overwhelming majority of the fanbase saw this coming a million miles away.
no but hey you're gna hear " oh just few games in you guys are overreacting"

Like i said this isn't 7 games or w.e its 169+ games.

ITs ridiculous. The only guy who performs consistently is bo.

Its absolutely unheard of. This batting lineup is pure trash. Somehow it was a concern for a so called contender and all we did was f***ing sign IKF lmfao. That too overpaid in an underpaid free agency. Ridiculous

Did anyone (other than management) really think they wouldn't struggle again offensively?
Idk. Kirk, Varsho, Springer and Vlad are the biggest variables.

The Jays could have signed Shoei Ohtani himself but if Kirk, Springer, Vlad and Varsho drop from 4-5 WAR players to 1.5-2 WAR players they are looking at a full rebuild. They need those 4 to figure it out. Springer and Vlad need to be at a minimum .800 ops, Kirk .780 and Varsho .740-.750. That's the bare minimum we need imo.

The thing that pisses me off is the Jays have the option to play Clement over IKF. We have the option to play Schneider/Horwitz in LF over Kiermaier. Our internal options are arguably 1/15 the cost and better. But they are forcing it with KK and IKF.

We spent 18 million on 2 bench guys. It's ridiculous. They are useful as defensive depth bench pieces but not starters IMO.

Not worried about Vlad. Good ABs, not chasing pitches, and still crushing the ball.

Varsho has never really shown he can be good with the bat at the major league level, so the hope is for him to be average. Having said that, he made changes to his approach in trying to lower his launch angle and not be a pop up machine. Results aren't good so far, but we'll see.

Kirk is my biggest concern. I'm not sure what happened during the 2022 ASB, but he has been awful ever since. Basically zero power now.

Agreed. That money could have also gone to a LF who can hit the ball well. Move Varsho to CF where his value will be higher.

His soft contact has been going up while his hard contact has been going down. For a guy that is as slow as him, it's not a good sign. Very small sample size, but his ground ball rate is almost 60% this year.

Once Jansen is back, he will get most of the playing time.

Kirk for me as well. We are into his 2nd season now of nothingness. What was once huge potential is looking more and more like a complete bust... and regardless of what some blind fans will say, his lack of fitness is an issue. Some were posting pictures of him at the gym and saying he looks great. Not sure when those photos were taken but he looks like a fat slob out there with massive love handles sticking out of his jersey. He's slow even by catcher standards. He's a major disappointment.

When I saw Kirk in Dunedin I was shocked to see that he either went down a shirt size or gained a few pounds.

Kirk, Kk, IKF, Biggio, Varsho all have no place in any starting lineup. When you start a game with 5 auto outs in your lineup you’re going to be shit. That’s what we are and have been for 2 years now. Shit

Then you add in the guys who are supposed to be good…. Bo, VLAD Springer…. And you realize they suck too.

Your toast

Well, don’t get all bent out of shape when they don’t win 100 games.

Bo doesn’t really suck. He’ll be fine.

Thanks for the toast….:)

Here he is when he got called up.

He looks somewhat the same and maybe a tad heavier? I know in the minors he was in the 280's and he was mashing the ball. Currently, he is listed at 245, and in the video he is listed at 265. That wouldn't be 100% but I see no reason why fitness is an issue, especially at the beginning of the season.

If Kirk started the season off well, and then tailed off, then I could see the fitness argument.

I think, to add to your point, is that it’s a long season. He might turn it around, he might not, but we shouldn’t write him off yet. Some people’s patience is running thin, I guess mine included, but we have to remember that simple fact (long season).

The only problem I have with the “it’s early” sentiment is that it’s been more than just 7 games that we’ve looked awful offensively. It’s been 162+ games now. It seems any adjustments made haven’t taken place. Look at Vladdy, swinging hard every time. Adjustments aren’t being made by Varsho and Kirk. Hell they couldn’t adjust to changeups when they knew they were coming.

No, you're right. i am just trying to have faith that last season was last season, and this season is this season. How can these guys not make adjustments? Low IQ? or a talent issue? Something is not right here. Or the message is totally wrong.

Obviously things haven't gone well, but I wonder just how good Vladdy really is. I think he's been way overhyped and I don't see him as a franchise player. With him coming out of team controlled years I think the team should seriously looks at trading him while his stock is high.

Before anyone jumps in here calling me crazy, remember back when the Jays traded another big name 1B in Fred McGriff along with Tony Fernandez and landed Carter and Alomar. Vladdy has been here long enough for most of us to know he's been pretty overhyped. I think he's never going to be the type of player that justifies the gross contract he's going to get next.
So his stock is high now.

So his stock is high now.

It's all relative.

As Homer said to Bart after Bart complained that this was the worst day of his life: "The worst day of your life so far"

Right now, Vlad still has his name brand, upside and maybe even buzz from his awesome HR Derby performance. A year from now he may not have that.
