What is the difference between being loaned to the Monsters" and being assigned.? Just semantics?
I think it is based on whether or not they require waivers. Then “returned” are guys on AHL deals? What is the difference between being loaned to the Monsters" and being assigned.? Just semantics?
I don't believe so, I was just wondering what we might do at this pointWe haven’t made it to the floor yet right?
Reunite Elvis and Korpi - trade Elvis + to Boston for Swayman, sign Swayman for 7x$8.5 mil.I don't believe so, I was just wondering what we might do at this point
Instant upgrade in goal but I doubt Boston does thatReunite Elvis and Korpi - trade Elvis + to Boston for Swayman, sign Swayman for 7x$8.5 mil.
My response was a little tongue-in-cheek. But, I'm not sure Swayman and Bruins management can mend bridges and there's not many teams where a goalie trade involving that expected contract is feasible.Boston would sooner let Swayman go for nothing than trade him for Elvis. And for me personally I'd rather release Swayman for nothing than sign him to that deal.
This means you can do it right now but you need to make legit efforts to do so and cannot sit below all season unless absolutely necessary. The league is waiving the Oct. 7 deadline to reach the floor of $65M, with the expectation they’ll get there in a “reasonable time.”
There are going to be teams with hard decisions on cut down day. That will mean either a nice option on the waiver wire or a deal to be made for an asset with an asset kicker to allow teams to save a player from being waived that they want to keep. I think there will be no shortage of options and my preference would be for a guy on the cusp of making a really good roster, but young enough to potentially add to the depth and possible core with the CBJ. Could get NHL minutes and possibly be a longer term guy. A guy like Francois Beauchemin... What a waiver steal he would have been if not traded for Federov.
People need to set rosters by Monday so maybe a move is to be made before potentially waiving someone or working to created some cap space.
The weekend could be interesting or it could be nothing.
This is exactly what I suspect. The weekend could be interesting or it could be nothing.
i know people want to avoid it because two young players together isn't ideal, but tbh i think the best way to arrange the pairs is to just put mateychuk and jiricek together. their games compliment each other quite well and their best performance of the preseason came when they were playing together.Sorry Harris, but Mateychuk is better.
Werenski (27), Severson (30)
Provorov (27), Jiříček (21)
Mateychuk (20), Gudbranson (32)

Harris (24), Christiansen (25)
I think
I like our defense, really.
P.S. be realists, Jiříček will play in Columbus, not Cleveland.
even by hfboards standards, saying they should waive their second best defenseman to avoid losing their eighth best defenseman on waivers is some real galaxy brain stuffThe guy to waive if we want to keep Jiricek up and not lose anyone is Severson. I doubt it will happen.

Yeah, I'm going to need you to prove this wild argument. With actual facts, not just vibes.I don’t think he is their second best defensemen. He is not a good defender and he is an an inconsistent offensive player. He brings no toughness and has nothing to add for power plays or penalty kills.
I also don't think getting a temporary waiver to remain below the salary cap is free license to drop that cap it any lower.even by hfboards standards, saying they should waive their second best defenseman to avoid losing their eighth best defenseman on waivers is some real galaxy brain stuff
