Is he just not that good on the PP? I'd have expected him to get more points in a year by now. I'm debating over taking him or Faber this year and I have no clue if Seider has that potential offensively.
He's good at it, probably not elite. Gostisbehere was 6th in the league in PPP/60 last season (>100 PP minutes) behind just Fox, Bouchard, Makar, Hughes and Hedman. So that's elite territory. Seider was 15th, so still really good though. Imo his offensive potential is a bit higher than Faber's and I think it's more likely Seider gets PP1 time now that he's competing with Gustafsson.

2nd PP P/60 is never really a good comparable versus those starting 5-man units, because Starting units will start from O.zone faceoffs and 2nd units have to start from own end after a clearing play, and - make a clear zone entry again and that takes time.

If you find a stat which will compare Seider's and Ghost's PP O.zone start shifts P/60 only, then we have a comparable number. Those general numbers aren't good ones. They always favor the starting units, even if the player would be a worse one.

Well we have Seider's numbers from his first 2 seasons also.

Wasn't Seider on the PP last year? I'm surprised he didn't have more than 40 points if so.

He was PP2 with the following;

DBC (don't know why he was PP2 for so long)-Copp - Fabbri
Compher

He'd soak up very few PP1 minutes. That unit was mostly;

Perron - Larkin - Raymond
Ghost - Kane

Seider should be on the top pp unit, and shouldn't even really be a debate. Gustafsson had a career high of 18 PP points during Kane's best season, his PP numbers just aren't very good. He's a mid 2nd PP unit guy at best, and not even a PP guy on a good team.

Non wings fan coming in peace, I have Berggren in fantasy, was wondering what his role will be this season/ going forward? The clock seems to be ticking for him is he just an AHL tweener or is there still high upside there?

I would guess he will be playing in the bottom 6 unless there is an injury to one of the wingers in the top 6.

Seems like they want to head into the season with Raymond, DeBrincat, Kane, Tarasenko as the wings for the top 2 lines.

Not sure if you are asking for just this season or long term.

That's a bad unit without a good screener/bumbers/corner player.

It was a good unit with Ghost and Perron in place of DBC and Seider. There was no screening done by Perron because he was setting up for a one timer at the top of the left circle.

Can't wait to see all the whining when Watson is signed and Marco and Mazur are sent down.
As they should until they learn to shoot the puck more than 2" off the ice. Preseason eye test matches the GR stats, they both have trouble finishing. Right now their trajectory is Helm/LGD combo unless they can figure out how to shoot the puck and capitalize on all the chances they create.

They'll get to shoot more often playing top line and PP1 at GR than playing 4th line shutdown role in Detroit. Kids that have trouble scoring in the AHL aren't magically going to gain shooting skills at the NHL level.

Watson is what he is. Ideally you want the 13th forward to be Motte/Fischer/Watson and not a younger kid like Burger.

Still small sample size, but Tarasenko was abysmal as LW and shined with Berggren as RW.

So, nothing has really changed what we did hear from Florida.

Guy is RW and we should build our roster with that as an only option.

When that power-play dried up, Compher was the answer to bring in a screener.

You know who would be an awesome screener?

I am going to admit, I took Shayne Gostisbehere for granted last season.

No he isn't a perfect player but the things he was good at he was pretty strong at. So far Gustafsson seems to be a significant downgrade, both offensively and defensively. I would take Ghost back in a heartbeat.

I don't know why we can't just go with what has worked for Tarasenko for the past ten years, It's not like the lines don't make sense with him 3rw. A pretty alright top9 can still be put together with people playing spots that make sense.

Tank is a natural left shooting RW and I agree that that is where he should reside for 5/5 play. He would be an excellent complement for Berggren on a third scoring line, and as much as I shutter as type this, I would try Joey V as the center (if for nothing else, bump up his trade value)

If it works at all, SY could trade JV to open a slot for Kasper later in the season if he doesn't make the team out of the gate.
