Nice to see the Swiss - much weaker than usual - put up a bit of a fight in the first. The second period was extremely slanted.

Lines look really good so far. I really hope Luneau will be 100% by Boxing Day and that Molendyk isn’t seriously hurt - his wheels will be game-breaking on the big ice, he may genuinely be the best skater in the entire tournament.

I am expecting and hoping for the Americans to give us a tough loss tomorrow. Pre-tournament adversity always seems to work well for us.

Was critical of the Allard selection but I quite like the line with him and Danielson/Beck.

Warren however looks lost, turnovers and caught on the outside too often

Allard fits that line like a glove and maytches the other 2s play style pretty well. Its obviously only one game but that line looks like it will be getting a lot of minutes. Probably the best line so far today, didnt look the same the few shifts with Rehkopf in Allards spot

There was a lot of turnovers leading to odd man rushes against. I found myself thinking if that was the states its in the back of the net way too often. Guys like Savoie and Poitras were getting too cute at times and turnnig it over
Their pace was non existant today too, didn't like what I saw today from top to bottom. They will have an awful tough time staying with good teams if they carry this on, having said that it's exhibition, time exists to get better every game.

Sounds like Ratzlaff and St Hilaire are splitting starts tomorrow against the States. Should be good.

I really hope this team finds a way to succeed. The wild amount of negativity around this team from the fans it will be fun to see it shoved down some throats. Definitely some things that need to be ironed out but they don't hand out medals on December 22nd.
You've been around long enough to know, TBC, that's the way things are in Canada. NO one turns on their players and throws them under the bus faster than Canadians. I'm sure I'm guilty of it, too.

When 4 of the top 5 "most annoying fanbases" all come together to cheer for one team, its definitely going to be overwhelming for some

:)

The worst was the night Canada lost to the U.S. in the Round Robin of the 2010 Olympics. The knives were out that night !!! One poster LOUDLY proclaimed :

EVERYONE REMEMBER, I WAS THE FIRST TO SAY THIS TEAM WILL NOT MEDAL !!!!

It was disgusting.

Of course, one week later, everyone jumped on the bandwagon and celebrated.

I'm not old enough to remember but I understand 1972 and 1981 were BAD(!!!) as well. It's what Canadians do.
