have you actually watched him or just looking at a box score
Box score. But to argue that it’s odd to rely on a guy scoring well under a point per game in juniors as a 19 year old to be on the first power play + first pk, doesn’t need much deliberation

Definitely on Team Canada which is primarily filled with players who are both box score and eye test better this year.

He was great in the nhl pre-season and some players just go through stretches of no puck luck which is why box score scouts are often wrong. Also why certain people were surprised he went top 10 in the draft, there's more than numbers. He's a great net front guy who is tough to move which is why he's pp1 and he's the best defensive forward on the team which is why he should play a large pk role, along with Yager if the coaches have a clue. If Wright isn't back this year Danielson should be the one who gets the "C"

A lot of guys had good NHL preseasons, you literally put 3 guys who made their NHL teams on the second power play, and left one completely off both units?

I have him on the second power play, I agree. But defensively there’s still Beck, Benson and Minten who are all excellent defensive forwards in their own right.

As for the C, I can’t imagine a world where he gets it. He has never been selected for a hockey Canada team since U16, there’s a returnee like Beck, NHL players like Benson, Savoie, Minten and Luneau who are all ahead of him in my opinion

Having Danielson on the 1st PP and Dumais not on either unit is an interesting opinion. Dumais should be running one of the two units without question.
That’s where Dumais shines the most, speciality teams, he drives the play with his high awareness IQ plays, I’m convinced he’s one of if not the smartest junior hockey player in the world in his age class right now, not all time. It’s just his skating that people get worried about. He’s like the pass version of Ovechkin. Someone scored? Dumais got the assist.

If anyone watched Columbus camp or last years World Juniors camp Dumais was unreal with Adam Fantilli. Do people forget Beck and Dumais were like two of a very little group of 2004’s at WJC camp last year?

Jordan is also extremely calm and poised in stressful situations which is very important for a junior hockey player in a high stakes tournament.

He’s currently on pace for back to back 140 point seasons in the QMJHL. So I don’t see why some people still worry about what he can or cannot do.

His teammate Mathis Rousseau should be an interesting option for Canada too in nets, it’s a team I follow a lot, and in my opinion I think Halifax Mooseheads are a 1 line team just with those two players on some nights. With the resume of goaltenders for Canada like Milic, Levi, Hofer. He could be up next to the task.

Absolutely what I’ve been preaching, great analysis. Can’t believe I’m seeing both Beck and Dumais being put as extra forwards?!

To me Dumais is playing like a junior version of Kucherov. Just absolutely dicing teams up from the half wall with pin point perfect passes and ridiculously accurate snap shots. Not that I am giving him that ceiling but watching him work on the PP reminds me of watching Kuch on the PP in the NHL.

Anyone starting to consider taking Danielson off their projections? Very underwhelming point production thus far. Unlike Owen Beck who had a rocky start and has been hot since, it seems Danielson is struggling. Trying to find a reason to leave him on, but don't know how i can pick him over a guy like Heidt for example
I'd be shocked if Danielson wasn't on the team.

One thing I'm wondering about is Easton Cowan not only because I like what he brings but anytime a Leaf comes up some people just go crazy.

I’ve got both making the team. Also Heidt now that Wright is out

Wright would have been an impactful player one of the best players in this year's tourney. A dumb decision for sure. but NHL GMs and dumb decisions is what they do best.

Celebrini would be first-line center; I don't care what you all think. He's the best Canadian player not in the NHL and on both sides of the puck.

Benson - Celebrini - Wright
Rehkopf - Savoie - Firkus
Cristall - Minten - Barlow
Danielson - Beck - Dumais
Yager, Geekie

Benson - Celebrini - Yager
Savoie - Wright - Firkus
Rehkopf - Minten - Barlow
Cristall - Beck - Dumais
Danielson -Geekie
Seems odd to me to not take advantage of the chemistry pairings that would let us have a very balanced forward corps.

Danielson-Celebrini-Barlow
Benson-Geekie-Savoie
Yager-Wright-Firkus
Rehkopf-Cowan-Minten
Beck, Dumais

Wright was the first line center as a 17 year old, but you think he should be third if he comes (which he won’t) ??

Beck and Dumais both made it far in camp last year, with Beck making it after an injury. But you have them both as extra forwards?

Minten, NHL, fourth line?

First line is too young as well

“Very balanced.” The entire point is there’s no real first line until one of them gets hot.

Agreed. Dumb, but not surprising. I think Wright could use the boost of confidence that would come from dominating this tournament. Slafkovsky should be released too.
