WJC: 2024 Team Canada Roster Talk - Part 1

Malmö local news is saying team Canada will have one week traning camp in Limhamn which is in Malmö. Lots of problem in this city, seems like a dumb choice but i promise to you guys that i wont shoot fireworks outside their hotel every night to annoy them.

Shane's doing really well in the AHL...

6 games, 4G, 2A, +4.

The WJR's is only a 1.5 months away so there's a pretty good chance Seattle lets him play at the WJR's before any thought of calling him up.
As I've mentioned before, don't be surprised if Seattle decides not to send him even if he remains in the AHL. They may not want to disrupt him unless he really wants to go. He captained the team last year on home ice and won gold. He accomplished what he needed to at that level, so he may ask to remain in the AHL. All speculation of course.

I think there's a 75% chance he goes. Maybe higher!

I know it's slightly wishful thinking...but I've been losing sleep over the thought of how dominant a line of Benson-Wright-Savoie would be!

I know people want to keep the Winnipeg Ice trio together, but I was trying to think of who would fit Wrights play style. Considering Hockey Canada's usual use of Wright, often using him as a shut down centre, I couldn't imagine him playing with offensive studs like Celebrini or Dumais.

But my god, a line of Benson-Wright-Savoie would literally dominate both ends of the ice. I can't imagine them not having the puck on their sticks. You could also use them against the other teams best line, and make them focus more on a shutdown role. It could be one of the best lines in recent history

How confident are you we are going to get Benson/Wright ?

Wouldn't call it a guarantee at all, but with Benson injured, and only 2 points in 6 games, I can imagine his spot on Buffalo may be gone by the time he's back.

As for Wright, I understand he's technically made 2 teams already, but has he really proven himself? I don't think so. He's seemed to have always had a very strong relationship with Hockey Canada, and wouldn't be surprised if he answered the call when called upon.

Agree on Benson, not sure about Wright......agree with you that he hasn't really proven himself but considering the rough start he has gotten off to in his NHL career not sure he's going to want to break off the teams plans for him, and I doubt those plans include him playing in the world juniors.

We shall see.

I think they’ll get benson. wright I don’t think so. He captained team last year and won gold. He’s been doing well in the ahl- I don’t see the need for Seattle to send him unless he really wants to go

Whether or not Boston lets him go is one thing, but Poitras has to be on the radar for the team I imagine. Was he on the original summer list for Calgary meetings? I can't seem to find that list anymore?
