WJC: 2024 Team Canada Roster Talk - Part 1

It makes ZERO sense. Using the law of averages and the number of players we produce, we should produce a TOP end goalie once every couple years. What is in the water up here?
Great article on why Canada can't produce top end goaltending talent

They literally won it in Ostrava in 2020.

Pakistan is now ahead of Sweden in ice hockey. Surely, the barrel can’t bottom further.

Minten has been sent to Kamloops as expected. Not sure if he's a shoo-in but seems like his chances would be pretty good to make it.

The only guys I think you for sure see there are
Wright, Beck, Savoie, Yager, Geekie, Danielson, and Barlow (F)
Mateychuk and Luneau (D)

Questions about Dumais I think are garbage, so I think hes there. Will Benson go? and Wood I think goes for sure too. Celebrini I think 13 FWDs it. Minten gets a better look than perhaps before the year because of the short stint with TO aswell. Spots up for grabs for sure though.
Korchinski I dont think gets loaned. Pickering I think goes as the shutdown boy. Hard so say Lamoureaux is even a lock right now.

Will be an interesting camp I think there will be more than one surprise guys on the team. Goalies are wild

He's playing 20+ minutes against some very good teams. Grrrrr. :(

Anyone have any ideas? We're less than 2 months away so....
DiVencentiis seems like the guy right now, but for me its way more up in the air than I like. Seems like its been that way for way too many tornaments in a row now though

If Celebrini is the 13th forward this will be the best Canada team ever… I think he’ll be playing top 6 and PP1
I agree, they always seem to coward the young guy in first couple games though. Even Fantilli last year seemed to be getting under played. By the end of the tornament Id expect him to have top offensive opportunities though, I agree, Atleast I hope.

We seem to be hearing that a LOT in recent years - they also said that about the team that lost to the U.S. in 2021 and last year's team. While I can't imagine any team topping 2005, it's nice to hear.
I don’t think you understood the meaning of my comment, jokingly saying that if Celebrini is going to be the 13th forward (which he isn’t, he’ll be one of the best players on the team), this team will be the best ever. Realistically this team will probably be the weakest since 2019, but will still be competitive

I sure wish Chicago would release Kevin K.

Why they won't : He's playing better by the game. They also keep increasing his ice time. Plus, having played last year hurts his chances. Finally, why risk an injury?

Why they might : Chicago is terrible so why not give him the chance to dominate / play a ton of minutes against elite talent his own age. The GM is Canadian so... why not?

Right now, I'd say he has a 25% chance of being released - which is way down from what I felt a few weeks back.

How come?
I think that Canada has alot of depth but all around the same level. It wouldnt surprise me if this team becomes a complete mind F to everyone who thought they could call it. I think he makes it, im just saying its gonna be a closer battle than many think for spots
