We can’t get by with this defense unless Igor bricks up and is 2022 Igor again. That guy could carry any team pretty far.

Lindgren and Trouba are the worst top 4 defenders on any team currently in playoff position. Thats 40+ minutes you’re committing to being at massive disadvantage.

I am banking on the Igor portion. I am semi banking on at least one of Lindgren-Trouba elevating their game at the most important time of the year.

I do think having someone who can distribute the puck would help them a lot. Yeah believe me I know all about their issues but with a diminished Wheeler they did score at a pretty substantial rate. Buch would make that line a lot better. They haven't had that type of player on their line since he was traded.

I always want to free up cap space but then I remember that this team with cap space is like a toddler with a loaded gun

I think its the time of the year where there is no sense in getting all frustrated and upset about what transpires here. Not directing this towards you, but others. The team is in 1st place in the Metro. They have had a pretty damn good season despite;

• Igor not being himself most of it
• Fox missing time and taking a month to find his game when he came back
• Losing Kakko for a stretch
• Losing Chytil for the season
• Yes even losing Wheeler
• Running Bonino out there
• Running Pitlick out there
• Goodrow not finding the net at all
• Zibanejad and Kreider turning into pylons at 5v5.

But there is also a lot of good in there. And I do think (hope) some of the above will work itself out. This is an experienced group and I want to see what they do when they get pieces added

Least of all - the last series we played them I thought he was an absolute menace and I was terrified every time he was on the ice. Crosby makes everyone better, I get that. But I don’t him as just a product of Crosby, I think he’s one hell of a player in his own right.

Give credit where it’s due. Crosby makes those around him better but guentzal is a nightmare to try and defend.

Who gets him the puck in the slot? Zibs and Kreider never have possession in the O-Zone

@DanielBrassard mentioned it, it'd make more sense to put him with Panarin and Trocheck. Stylistically. Laffy can maybe help Zibs line with carrying the puck and making plays

All I've ever seen Bobbop do is pass along things he has heard and have never seen him "promise" a Kakko, or any other, trade. Most I've seen is him suggest that NYR may look to move younger players (Laf, Kakko) if they had another lackluster season (going in to this season).

Would love if this board could not drive away another knowledgeable poster with comments in this vein because the poster they're "accusing" aren't in a FO leaking first-hand information.

This team is definitely in win now mode. But that doesn’t mean leaving the cabinet dry for when Kakko, Laf, Miller, Schneider, and Fox become veterans.
