Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates

He had a NTC and dictated where to go. He has a home in Florida and Florida is the top contender in the east.
While we can't say for sure without someone outright stating "yeah he'd only go there" it sure seems like he said "trade me to Florida" and Ottawa couldn't get much of a return being over the barrel like that.

Why does everybody assume the worst when we don't get guys they want? It seems fairly obvious that Tank wanted to go to Florida and had a NTC and it was reported a while ago that Hanafin had a handful of teams he would sign an extension with and the Rangers weren't one of them. Why is this so hard to believe for some?

He traded for wennberg an hour ago. Working on Guentzel and maybe Buch. Hanifin is a move I would’ve made but now is not really time for an ideological shift on defense mid season. He has a first rounder to dangle and really if they are serious about winning they’ll add one of Guentzel, Buch, Tuch, Eberle. Maybe someone out of left field but that’s how you raise the ceiling on this core. Every other top dog is loading up.

The fact that Hanifin went out west is huge considering he was possibly going to our possible first round opponent in TB or possibly Florida.
Having said that I would have preferred Hanifin plus an extension vs someone like Guentzel who is 30 years old.
