They are likely going to have to beat Boston or Toronto and then also likely TB. I think they will do that but lets not act like those series may not take a pound of flesh from a team that plays a physical brand of hockey

While what you are saying is true, some context is important too.

It's Alex Wennberg.

We have serious 5v5 problems and a non-existent first line. To the extent that Florida kicked our ass, Wennberg probably doesn't fix that.

I think it's a little too optimistic to be trumpeting that we "closed the gap." We stopped the gap from growing too big that if Shesterkin plays out of his mind and the Panarin line carries us, that we can't get hot and take the series.

Of course that's all that can reasonably be expected when your team has the amount of fatal flaws ours has.

I said this yesterday. If his ask is reasonable and he fits in well, he's a good stop-gap 3C who can also play wing as needed for 2-3 years. I would imagine he is looking at $2.5-2.75m

I think there's some school of thought that most PKers aren't really "good" at it and it's highly dependent on goaltending. However, if you can be dangerous shorthanded then thats actually better than just skating around in circles in your own zone

Kicked our ass is a little strong. They got a goal off a play that should’ve been a penalty. They had the greatest assist of the year. Igor let in a joke too. I didn’t leave that game thinking we have no chance in a series.
