If the stats are right, he's been on ice for 22 PPG against, and Seattle has allowed 36 PPG. So he'd have to be the worst defensive player of all time.

If it’s really down to the Canes and the Rangers on Guentzel than that is pretty rough. Not only bidding to get him, but also keep him away from a team you may need to get through.

I'd probably lean EH based off of what I know about the 2.

It's a better exercise to deep dive into the player individually, see how they perform with and without their most common linemates and if you're really into the PK numbers, see how he performs in relation to his peers.

I'll do a more thorough break down for you in a bit when I get some time because I honestly have no idea how he's performed this year. Weighted 3 year averages are not useless, but what a player did 3 years ago shouldn't really have any impact on what they're doing now. For instance, Lindgren was pretty good 3 years ago, he sucks balls now.

He's really bad on the PK... we're getting him for even-strength/5v5... so I couldn't care less about the PK which tanks his defensive metrics

To be very clear the Rangers have been playing literally without an NHL caliber 3C all season. I mean all season. We’ve had Bonino and brodzinski. to say this isn’t a massive upgrade is insane. This is a legit nhl top 3 centerman.
