I know I spam it a lot, but if Drury was in on Novak, I hope he revisits the convo with Trotz to discuss Tomasino.

The rest of the rental market is pretty bleh, and I want nothing to do with someone like Zucker. Granlund is absolute asscheeks too and he still has term.

I like Duke a lot, but I worry with him going from the absolute wasteland that is David Quinn hockey to playing under Lav. He won’t have the freedom to cherrypick and not play defense here. That’s why Pacioretty makes a ton of sense. NMC will keep the cost down, Caps are a lot more of a slog under Carbery and he still generates a ton of shots, plays both W, and grew up a Rangers fan.

Got it.

There’s clearly a difference between what the promotion department is doing as part of its work and what FO is doing as part of its. If not - Shattenkirk would still be a Ranger or Cally would never play for Tampa.

The team had a disappointing exit last year but it was put squarely on Gallant. Another similar outing with a different coach and there’s no way Drury keeps the core untouched that starts with the obvious names on D - if we see a steep decline in Lindgren and Trouba - so can Drury.

Hey, I hope you're right, as I think moving Trouba and re-purposing that money is the way to go. But if they DO see Trouba as part of the long term plan (and it wouldn't be the first time that the team saw players in a polar-opposite way than HF conventional wisdom), then it's dumb not to cash in on Schneider's potential. His value could be put to better use than a 14-minute a night 3rd pair D. Again though--only if the team isn't planning to create room for him to move up.

Right to go back on the line with zib and kreider that got absolutely caved in during the playoffs 2 years ago. That should absolutely go well lol
They need another RW on this team and he had 13 points in 23 games with them the last time. I would prefer Buch and Eberle over him but he should not be discounted and he's having a pretty good season. I would not give up a 1st for him though.

Letter jacket Drury focusing on flipping kakko and Lindgren into zegras and choochrun. Just wait fellas. Ducare for a 4th, tony D on waivers.

Look at the Tarasenko deal. He only wanted to go to Florida, and they retained half. We may not even need the retention. It shouldn’t cost more than a 4th and someone like Brody Lamb
Probably way less even. That’s the kind of rental you make.

I hate the idea of moving Kakko but that’s the right move if you are gonna move him.

Still can't believe the crying over not getting a guy who there is proof is carried by Crosby. Sure. He's gonna fix our Mika-Kreider problem.

Now, if we turned down Kakko and a first for Crosby, that's reason to be mad.

I'd be interested to here how you think it would work, I can never come up with a sensible solution.
If you extend the days out to the theoretical end of the SCF it has some really weird effects on cap calculation for every team that doesn't make it that far. And what happens if you assume you aren't getting past the 2nd round so plan your cap accordingly. Can you only play with 16 players to be cap compliant during the conference finals?
Very simple. Your playoff roster has to have a total AAV of whatever the cap number is. How is that hard? If you add up all of the cap hits of your roster for the past season minus any retention by other teams, it can’t be more than whatever the cap was for the regular season.

I'd check in on Buch and Eberle to get a sense of the cost.
Assuming they have too high a price tag, I check in on guys like Duclair, Reilly Smith, and that level of player.
Zero interest at ALL in Frank Vatrano.

I'm thrilled that we (seemingly) didn't go all in on Guentzel, and I really hope the return from Carolina sucks for Pitt (gave their trade thread a quick read, and they were predicting a NYR return of Kakko, Perrault, a 1st and Goodrow for Guentzel at 50%. I love it when delusional meets disappointment).

It's funny how, like, duclaire is absolutely last year's vatrano or whenever it was when we picked up vatrano for cheap. Same profiles same low cost. Drury 100% has to be in on that. SJ likely playing their hand to the last second to see if they can get a 2nd. I bet they will.

I rest my case
It’s not gloating any more than you posting all happy when and if we do go get Eberle or something tomorrow. My posting motives have nothing to do with you honestly.

Yeah I like to bitch about their bad moves and come celebrate their good ones… like restraint from bad trades. Nothing to do with gloating. It would have to be about you to be gloating and it isn’t at all.

To be honest I rather like you aside from the fact that your idea of team building is just completely wrong.

Don’t mind patches but go for Chychrun if you’re cheaping out at forward
I’m listening
