The sad fact behind this transfer is that OL has sold their best academy player (Sarr, CB) for 10M to Strasbourg while signing Omari from Rennes for 7M.So there's a big risk he's not going to be the same player when he cools down
Omari was spectacular two seasons ago but absolutely catastrophic since.

They refused to let him play preseason and it got him dropped from the national team. Probably wanted to get the hell out of there.

I actually think this is one of the more defendable moves of this window… if we lived in a world where they didn’t sign KDH & Felix.
Based on Maresca’s front five set up so far:
LW - Mudryk, Sancho
LAM - Enzo, KDH
RAM - Palmer, Nkunku, Felix
RW - Neto, Madueke
ST - Jackson, Osimhen (if), Guiu
Take out KDH & Felix, insert Gallagher, and a loan for Guiu and it makes more sense.
Need to loan Guiu. He will never play going forward.

Sancho as an obligation and not a loan is even more confusing.
Mudryk, Madueke, Neto, Sancho - all on term deals and you have Paez & Estevao coming next year. Wtf

I think they are just waiting to be able to sell Mudryk for when it won't be an accouting loss. Take him out, makes a bit more sense.
Applying sense to our strategy is an oxymoron though.
I like Sancho, but wanting to get rid of Sterling to bring Sancho in...is completely mindboggling.

It’s a wages thing. Sterling Chilwell and Carney make 625k p/w combined.
Sterling is better than Mudryk and was frankly better than Madueke last season as well.
He’s still not very good and past it.
Have to imagine Sancho took a significant wage reduction given what Chelsea’s wages look like nowadays.

I'm fine with landing no striker, but they knew Osimhen's demands, why do this song and dance when you weren't willing to pay the demands.
