Dude is completely oblivious to the game as it happens around him. Anyone with half a brain is pulling Cole earlier in the 5th given the vibes/body language showed he was floundering. Not Boone though.
He got outmanaged by god damn Dave Roberts of all people. That in itself is a firable offense.

That meltdown makes the Leafs meltdowns in Boston , look like a minor thing. I've never seen, in a deciding game, such a complete meltdown, from virtually any Yankee who touched the ball.
When the team was melting down, Boone did nothing to give the team a breather... something as simple as a time out to stop the Dodgers momentum ... nada nothing.. just chewed on his seeds and daydreamed about his fishing trip next week...

Technically, the offseason actually start Oct 31. That is when trades became legal and teams were allowed to negotiate with free agents for the first time (can't be signed until next week).

I still think Pete Alonso and Vladdy moving over to 3rd is the move. Or Christian Walker. Not sold on Bregman as an option.

The World Series made one thing apparent for the Toronto Blue Jays: They aren't anywhere close. This is a team facing the end of an era and a heavy decision to pick one path or another. The decisions over the next few months will carry that weight.
During his end-of-season media availability on Oct. 2, Shapiro said he didn’t see the payroll “either growing or decreasing in a big way,” which suggests the Blue Jays could end up in the $230-$240 million range again.
In other words, they have money to work with.
That should give them the space to add an impact bat, a lesser but productive hitter and a mid-range leverage reliever. Closer Jordan Romano is projected to make $7.75 million in arbitration but if his status after elbow surgery is too uncertain, he could be non-tendered to create additional spending room.
The return from last summer’s deadline sell-off, while not altering the franchise’s trajectory, gives the Blue Jays more assets to work with on the trade market, although both system and 40-man roster depth remain glaring organizational issues.
All of which brings us back to Muncy’s point, about how every team talks about winning a World Series in the spring, but for how few of them it’s actually a legitimate and sustainable aspiration.
The Blue Jays, no matter how you cut it, simply aren’t anywhere close, the road they’re on is about to end and the time for them to choose a direction is nigh.

Offence has to be a huge priority. If they average 4.6, 4.7, 4.8 runs per game next year they will win lots of games with their starting pitching.
I know I'm a broken record about it. But Shapiro and Atkins talking about payroll and nibbling in free agency to round of the roster means absolutely squat if they head into the season with Vladdy unsigned. That's the only news I care for right now.

Yes, you're exactly right. Vladdy needs to be signed first and foremost. But also, there is no "rounding out the roster" they have to go get impact bats. Otherwise, they are just wasting everyone's time.

I don't even know if it makes much sense. They need more than one guy. I am not under an illusion that Soto solves all our issues.

Let's hope they have a Soto plan and a heavily researched and thoughtout plan for the likely scenario we dont get him. Pick a number, stick with it but actually have a plan in place for free agency. Last year it went from Ohtani... to IKF, Turner and KK... they got caught with their pants down as usual. If this team has a similar off-season, Vlad isn't signed and Bo goes into the season without being traded and no extension... it will be another year I go nowhere near the SkyDome.

We already know Boras is going drag this out. There needs to be a real plan in place in the likely scenario that Soto signs elsewhere.

The real, current World Series is over but our throwback one goes for one more game, as the 1956 Dodgers and Yankees headed to a deciding seventh game to determine the champion.
The game was played on October 10th at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. The whole of the series was played over the course of a single week with just one day off between games 1 and 2
The Yankees send out the unfortunately named Johnny Kucks against Dodger ace and 1956 NL MVP and Cy Young winner Don Newcombe.
Kucks previously appeared in game 2 for the Yankees, giving up a hit and a run while failing to retire anyone before he was pulled. For the season he was an all-star for the Yankees, sporting an 18-9 record and 3.75 ERA from 224 innings pitched as a starter. This season was the peak of his career, which lasted for 2 more seasons in New York before he was traded to the then-Kansas-City Athletics. He actually changed hands twice in 1961 from KC to Baltimore to St. Louis, but by that point he was out of the majors and never reached the bigs again.
Newcombe, as previously mentioned, was the NL MVP and the sole Cy Young winner for the 1956, his peak as a pro. he was also the 1949 rookie of the year and a 3-time all-star before having his career interrupted for 2 years by military service.
after this season he played another season and a bit with the Dodgers before he was dealt to Cincinnati for four largely forgettable players who barely (if at all) played for the Dodgers before vanishing or being moved elsewhere. With the Redlegs (they were not formally called the "Reds" again until 1959) Newcombe's career sputtered and died due to a combo of injury and poor performance and he was out of the league after a forgettable 20-game stint with Cleveland in 1960.
As for the lineups, not much changed. Bill Skowron drew back in for Joe Collins as the Yankee 1B but that's it.

If there's interest maybe I'll do a different game every so often (like maybe 1 game a week or a playoff series every few weeks or something like that) we'll see how things go and how much free time I have to research what games in my collection are available on youtube and have something interesting to merit sharing.

Yeah, definitely have to be careful that doesn’t happen… I don’t want them missing out on a Santander or a Teo because they spent all their time on Soto only for him to return to the Yanks….
