At this point, they're at a point where they think they can make more money by not spending on the team. It's up to us, just like we did with Jacobs, to prove to them that it's more profitable to spend to the CBT.
I'm still going to wait and see what the team looks like come April, but I'd be lying if I didn't suggest that I'm a little nervous/concerned.

The 2024 Red Sox will be cursed by being the Full Throttle edition of the Sox.
This offseason has been a joke for the Red Sox. They dropped to last place, hired a new guy to replace Bloom, but have made no big moves to improve in trade or free agency!

19 million for a declining depth starter is just terrible. Guess that is the going rate when your cheap joke of a franchise can't do anything right.
19m for a dude who put up a 7.0 era for his last team?! Tell me this is just a joke please.🙏

Hell baby
good deal, glad they didn’t guarantee him 3 or 4 years

Most places expected him to either get 4 or get $20+ mill

He was back to his usual #2/3 SP self with the white Sox last year, then got traded (for a top prospect) and him and his wife got divorced and his season tanked.

Framing it as having a 7.00 Era for his last team is just disingenuous (4.88 on the season)

Even if he’s a #4 guy putting up an ERA in the high 4’s he gives them something they desperately need out of that staff- innings and reliability. On the flip side if they can get him back to form he probably opts out after the year and we offer a QO (or just re-sign him)

2022: 30 games, 161.2 innings, 81 ERA+

He's been ass for two seasons. What's even worse is they're gonna pass this off as something significant, when it's really just a very expensive bet on double zero. Maybe it'll hit, and then they can't pretend they're geniuses, but it was a desperate stab by a desperate team that doesn't really give a shit anymore.

Yes, I have completely turned on them after being infinitely patient the last couple seasons. Until they show me they're serious about being on the same level as the Dodgers and Yankees I'm going to be pissed.

Have the Red Sox considered signing players that are a) good and/or b) are reasonably expected to remain good rather than going after reclamation projects or guys that haven't been good in a couple seasons? Why is every f***ing guy they sign or trade for a question mark? Why are they operating like a mid-market team? WHAT THE f*** IS THIS BULLSHIT?
