Uh you're a Jones apologist lol hows that working out
I have never been a Jones guy. I always thought the guy was marginal, in fact. But where you and I differ is that I also think Zappe sucks, while you refuse to accept reality on this. He was statistically worse than Jones last year. They scored less ppg and gained less yards per game with him in. Again those are simple facts.

Now let's be fair and honest with this statement, given you've positioned it in a way that makes it sound like Jones was holding Smith back instead of this season being career highs for him in receptions, yards, and targets. And even taking into consideration him having his career season, it still ended up being only 34 yards per game. Hardly the game breaking talent you seem to be implying.
Jonnu Smith isn't anything more than a solid, playable tight end, but it's not just about him. Since you brought up yards per game, all but one of the guys they brought from the outside to play with Mac had a decline in yards per game when they had to start catching passes from him. Henry, Smith, Agholor, Parker, JuJu and Gesicki. Some of them had bigger drops in yardage than others but everyone besides Bourne dropped.

The qb has to take a decent amount of the blame for that. Zappe isn't good and probably gets cut but some of these guys showed they at least had a pulse when they made him starter for the rest of the season even if it was just for a game or two. Maybe if their options at qb aren't a noodle arm with bad fundamentals and craps himself under pressure, or a guy who's inaccurate even when under little to no pressure and can only play well for one half of the game, and they can instead find a guy who doesn't suck and has some arm talent, the pass catchers might actually be better than what we think they are.

no chance Mac sniffs wins in Denver and Pitt. He couldn't even beat the giants or Hoyer lol.

we’ve already argued this same shit many times. I can’t help you if you refuse to accept the truth. In reality Zappe and the team was worse offensively than they were when Jones played. Which is saying a lot given Jones f***ing sucked so much. Lol

End of an er(ror). That's the Epiphany for the Mac experiment. Good luck to him resurrecting his carrer in the swamp down there in Jacksonville and time to move on for the Pats thru draft or FA.

A Patriots equivalent of the B's "Jim Carey Experiment" that has now come to an end. God send and good riddance.

You brought up zappe bc you're upset and needed to launch a tirade to deflect from macs failure. Macs failures are on mac. Macs behavior clearly resonates.

I’m all in on the sign Brissett and draft a QB at 3 plan

Brissett compared to Newton/Mac/Bailey will be a breath of fresh air, I think he’s better than many starting QB. He played better than Baker and Deshaun in Cleveland and he played better than Howell in his limited opportunities last year in Washington. He’s familiar with both the org and AVP. He’s not gonna block the guy we pick at 3 long term. He’s perfect for what they need.

Brissett is lauded as a great teammate, a super hard worker and a good dude. Probably the ideal backup. He is also a Hoyer + type guy in terms of on field capability so "maybe" they get lucky and he can pull a Cassel and get a winning record, but expecting that is a stretch of Gumby (not Axelsson) proportions. If they go with him it is a rebuild season in 24-25 with hopes for 25+. I'm OK with that as long as Kraft and his PR minions don't try to blow smoke and act as if it is another "full throttle" effort to put W's up.

The pandering of the Krafts with this whole "docuseries" to build up their brand as owners for the HOF jacket is a cheapshot artist conjob and I only wish in Episodes 9 and 10 they could visit that FL Thai massage parlour so they could wrap up the whole thing with a one and final happy ending from that pervert. Got kids and still stick up for a guy that forces someone into that position because he has $, connections, and lawyers his way out of a judicial process? Really??

Kind of funny they're re-signing pass catchers considering last year's offense. Not saying they're wrong to want either Henry or Bourne back (especially Bourne), just funny when they were truly inept on offense.

I won’t pretend to know a lot about the draft, but from what I’ve read there are a lot of questions about the first round QB’s.

I worry about blowing a 3 overall on a guy who isn’t going to be a top 10 QB in a few years.

Seems like Arizona wants MH2.

If I were the Pats I’d offer 3 and a later pick to Arizona for their 2 first rounders or take MH2 and Penix or Nix and let them develop behind Brissett or Wilson.

They have to figure that the QB situation the past two years held back Henry and Bourne.

I think I heard a stat that Henry was 5th in TE tds the past 3 seasons, pretty impressive with what they rolled out at QB.

Nope.

Don't play games.

If the Patriots are on the clock at #3, and there's a QB available that they would feel good about building their team around, they should take him and worry about everything else later.

Even if a lot of people don’t see the gap between the first guy and 6th guy, as being anything significant and you can get one of the OL and WR in round 1 and a QB in 2?

But every scout/draft analyst is saying it's the big 3 and then a big drop off to Nix/Penix/McCarthy

Gotcha.

Actually….if you can convince AZ that you want MH, maybe you just take the remaining QB at 4 and you also have another good pick.

I would consider moving around if they were looking for a player at any position other than QB.

If there's a QB you really like at #3... take him.

If there isn't, then trade out.

There's a pretty significant gap between Williams and everyone else.

THere's also a pretty big gap between Daniels & Maye, and guys 4-6.

I don't buy the JJ McCarthy hype at all. He's Mac 2.0 to me. Penix is an interesting player, but I doubt he's ever a franchise guy. Bo Nix? Nope.

I think JJ does some things well that Mac simply can’t do (throwing on the run being the biggest thing)- I don’t mind him as a prospect but I don’t like him at 3

This is my take as well, if they love the QB that is there at 3, take him. Otherwise trade it for a haul.
