My wish list:

Celebrini
Dickinson
Parekh
Buium
Demidov

Dickinson is a 6’3” 205 pound dman putting elite numbers all around. You know damn well he’ll be the pick if we don’t get the #1 overall and he’s available
Demidov would be 2nd if not for being Russian. I think he’s going to be a Kaprizov level player. Not sure the ducks will want to wait 3-4 years for that

Not sold on:

Silayev
Levushanov
Lindstrom

Nice to see a fellow Dickinson lover. He is big, is the best defensive prospect this year and is over PPG. IMO he has 1D ceiling.

Levshunov is still a good pick I think him being from Belarus and having to learn US hockey means people have their doubts. He is so strong it will lead to him being a physical beast at NHL level and he is almost at PPG in NCAA which is a great achievement for a D in his draft year. He should easily be a first line D.

Thats kinda the appeal on Levshunov to me... i think he is the most raw prospect out of the dmen in the top 15. Hes already got an NHL frame on him.

Dickinson is also 7 months younger than levshunov, both seem like good pick ups.... levshunov is an easier fit.... i also just think we knock it out of the park with LHD consistently but always seem to struggle finding RHD.

Dickinson for me is the biggest no miss/high floor guy other than Celebrini. There's some higher upside to dream on perhaps with some other guys but I think at worst with Dickinson you are getting a top 4 minute muncher like a Hanifin.

Not that he's lacking upside himself obviously

8. Iginla

Dont like Silayev at all, and while i think Parekh is a good pick, not convinced he is the right pick for us(i do think he suffers from what mintyukov suffered from in his draft year... but i saw a lot more in mintyukovs game that led me to believe hed be fine defensively)

I think Silayev ends up a 3/4D but a 6'7 good skater is something we just dont have in our system. Also playing KHL like he is is unheard of.

Parekh could get over 100 points this year which would be insane. Even though he is playing like an extra forward my bet is that he has the smarts, since he was accelerated through school, to grow his defensive game to be a more complete offensive D in the NHL.

Ya i mean im sure Silayev has a solid ceiling... but i think a lot of his hype comes off of being that potential unicorn build... and im just not sure i see that Pronger/chara/hedman game people dreaming of when they draft him.

Parekh is such a wild card to me.... hes def gifted offensively.... is his defense/size good enough to be a 2 way guy at the NHL level.... hes a guy id love to see on a diff team/system. Dioncio has 17 goals in 33 games in that system.

Lev is tied for first on his team in scoring with 30 points and first in +/- with 24. The second highest on the team in +/- rating is 18, third is 12, and fourth is 11. With a +24, Lev is ranked 5th overall in the NCAA.

I don't know if Lev gets enough credit for adapting to the NCAA level from the USHL. He's a rookie playing in a league from ages 17 to 25. Lev is also the youngest D-man on his team, which is odd to see him leading all d-men in scoring and +/- . 2nd highest scoring D on the team has 19 pts. 2nd highest +/- D on the team is +18 and Neinhuis is 24 years old!

If that's Lev's floor as a raw talent, then sign me up for this 6'2 and 209 lbs RHD!

As good as Dickinson is, he's still on a stacked team in the OHL, ages 16 - 20. This is Dickinson's second season in the OHL.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. But if they're on the same level, then I'm looking at Lev because he kills 2 birds with one stone being a RHD.

The Ducks will probably be the third worst team, but drop two spots. So who is the best player available at #5?

These guys are very likely top 5 and were in Bob Mackenzies top 5.
Celebrini
Levshunov
Silayev
Lindstrom

Eiserman is the other guy but he is dropping down rankings fast so wont be top 5.

In 2023 Bob had 4 players in his top 5 mid season ranking get drafted top 5 at the end of the year.

I don't see the Hawks dropping if they finish 1st overall. All I know is whoever finishes 2nd has never picked 2nd since the lottery started. Crazy!!! Maybe we move up one to 2nd?
Picking 2nd would be great because we know we got 'our guy'. If that ends up a D then we know he will be awesome.

I love how we cant speculate about crimes players have committed despite legitimate reason to speculate but we can make shit up about a massive conspiracy to defraud 31 of the 32 teams by the league that involves buying off media people from different media outlets, team representatives from teams that didn't win, an international lottery company, and the 3rd largest accounting firm in the world. All to make sure big market teams get good players.

The hoops you guys have to jump through to make this delusion a possibility in your head is mind blowing.

The Hawks currently own the best chances of landing the #1 pick. It's really not farfetched to think they'd win the lottery due to their odds.

With whoever finishes 2nd, they've never stayed at 2nd ever since the lottery went to more than one lot pull in 2016. Weird!!! And we dropped from #2 to #3 in the 2021 draft. (source)

I’m talking about the comments about the league “letting” the Hawks drop. And by your logic of the past (even though it has literally nothing to do with the odds of what happens this year) the team with the best odds has only retained #1 4 times in the last 13 lotteries.

Staying at #1 four out 13 times is a lot better odds than staying at #2, which has never happened since the inception of multiple draw lotteries starting in 2016. I'm more terrified of finishing with the 2nd worst record in the multiple draw era! hahahaha
