Yeah... we could definitely use some more of that on the back-end.
Random tidbit: I believe that's our very own Artyom Galimov to whom Silayev introduces himself.

Galimov is #95 (unless he changed his number recently), so that’s not him.Yeah... we could definitely use some more of that on the back-end.

Time for some WJC overreactions based on a couple games.

We have been bad since we traded Lindholm and we still lack a big shutdown D. What if we could draft a 18yo Lindholm? Well we can.
Sam Dickinson's player comparable is Hampus Lindholm. He is the guy I want us to draft this year and would take him #2 easily.
He is the premiere defensive defensman this draft at 6'3 and also on track for close to PPG in OHL. Great skating, a booming shot, nice hands & work ethic. He is basically a complete player and IMO will be a 1D. He also just had a 4 point night.
Button's take on Dickinson: "There's a sense of comfort when they are on the ice that everything is going to go well" "He really is a well rounded, complete defenseman" "I see him as a 40-50 point guy in the NHL"

Kyle Cushman - theScore - December 11th: "The London Knight has an excellent frame, listed at 6-foot-3 and 194 pounds. His defensive acumen has been lauded as some of the best in the class."
Jordan Harris - Dobber Prospects - November 18th: "Dickinson routinely kills plays, especially in transition. Players have a difficult time gaining the zone against him as he’s got the feet to stay with almost anyone, combined with the ideal length, reach, and stick work to knock pucks away."
Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - November 15th: "Smooth, powerful skater who can transport the puck, initiate or support the rush."
Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - November 8th: "Another mobile defenseman with size, Dickinson is the best CHL defender this year. He’s been hovering close to a point-per-game mark, but he’s more than just offense. At 6-foot-3, Dickinson has good speed, a great first stride and makes smart decisions with the puck."
Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - November 8th: "He’s a strong 6-foot-3 defenseman who skates well in all four directions, plays hard, defends at a high level, has skill and poise with the puck (which was on display more at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and has continued to reveal itself for the Knights this season), and has started to make better and more consistent reads under pressure (he's showing real comfort and even deception past opposing forwards these days)."
Corey Pronman - The Athletic - November 1st: "He is an excellent defender due to his feet, length at 6-foot-3 and strong compete. He has good stick skills and a big point shot to contribute with the puck."
I think Zell would likely be the odd one out in the event of Dickinson or Silayev getting drafted. I could stomach moving him in a move that gets a young goal scoring forward, similar to Fiala, Dubois, Debrincat etc.I am on board with BPA, even if it is a defenseman, but I also feel like our d prospect pool is way too deep and our forward pool is as shallow as can be right now
I was going to create a “Tank” thread for purposes of discussing where the Ducks will end up picking, was going to wait till the 1st of the year, but I’ll just make it now. They have a firm grip on that 3rd from last spot (by points percentage, Ottawa schedule reflects poorly in points standings). Assuming they win all of their upcoming games, and the bottom feeders lose all of theirs, they are still locked in for at least a week and 2-3 days.Should add a poll on where we think we are going to end up picking.
Not sure why mods are against the tank thread. It’s just gonna get brought up here and in other threads now and start pissing matches.
They are bottom 3 in points and point% at new years.
Probably because we aren’t tanking we just suck. Also the prize for tanking is significantly worse this year, last season the prize was one of Bedard, Fantilli, or Carlsson. This year there’s really only 1 guy that’s 1st overall quality and then 2-10 are up in the air. We’d look like dummies to cheer for losses to come out of the draft with anyone but Celebrini. Not sure why mods are against the tank thread. Totally agree on a personal level, but some probably don’t and I don’t see why they shouldn’t be able to discuss it.Rooting for them to lose and speculating where they could end up picking in the draft are two different ball games. It’s a toxic environment when fans get happy their team is losing or losses a game.
I would think a lesson was learned last year. Since if we would have finished 3rd (won the last game) instead of dead last, would have gotten Bedard. But I’m still happy with our pick who is going to be the better all around player in his draft.
With that said last draft had three 1stOA picks in the top 3, so it was a rare situation. Even I was fine with them finishing dead last even if it felt wrong. We were guaranteed a franchise changing player, and so far Leo has shown his potential before that asshat sat on his knee.
Coming last last year was about guaranteeing we get to pick one of bedard, carlsson or fantilli. We also won a lottery pick by obtaining last place.Rooting for them to lose and speculating where they could end up picking in the draft are two different ball games. To quote myself from last month.Won’t have a tank thread that early or even likely at all. Maybe will consider it with 15-20 games remaining and they are in the bottom 5.
I don't think that you have to worry about them ending up in the bottom half of the standings. The question is are they going to be bottom 3 or bottom 8.Funny, this is the year I WANT them to tank. Lots of really good talent this year in the top 15 that are too good to pass up.
ship off Henrique, Gibson, and whatever else worth of value for some extra firsts
