Prospect Info: 2024 NHL Entry Draft Discussion

just that he's a top prospect for the upcoming draft. A modern power forward who needs to work on his playmaking.
His playmaking is really good in small areas. Perfetti-esque in style (though not in consistency or level of production).

He’s very much a throwback power forward. As much as a modern forward can be. He’s not dropping the gloves or cross checking guys in the teeth like 20-30 years ago. But he does love to drive the the net and to finish his checks.

Watched about half of the Knights vs Sting preseason game yesterday.

Sam Dickinson was a stand out for me, very big guy who played the game pretty well at both ends of the ice. Didn't seem too physical but he was pretty good at clearing the crease out. I know he's highly rated this draft but I haven't seen anything that separates him from a guy like Jiricek or Kiviharju to me at least so far.

Another guy I took notice of was Boulton who seemed like your prototypical small but fast and skilled guy, he buzzed around a lot and had quite a few takeaways by pickpocketing someone or getting into passing lanes. Had quite a few looks but didn't convert anything. He isn't currently rated but he's a rookie just coming into the league this year so we'll see how he looks.

For the sting I mostly noticed two guys, 15yo Ryan Brown who has 2 goals in 2 preseason games for the Sting and is a pretty small skill guy, I'd say he seems to be in the right place at the right time a lot took advantage of that. He created a lot of chances anyways, much like how Boulton played. Not super relevant for this thread but I wouldn't be surprised if he rockets up the charts for his draft class eventually.

Other guy was Lukas Fischer, who's a massive 6'4 defenseman, interestingly enough chose to come to the OHL instead of the NTDP and has dual Czech/US heritage. He definitely seems capable of being a steady stay at home d-man and landed a few pretty solid hits during the game and wasn't afraid to mix it up. He's gotten a few secondary assists during the preseason game but I haven't been able to view much about his offense.

The game was mostly taken over by the older guys (Julien, Cowan, Barkey, Gazisov, Leonard, the Leblancs) but there were a few stand out plays by the young guys for both sides that contributed. Especially Boulton, who could have probably had 3 if he converted.

Arsen Taimazov is a big (6’4 or 6’5) RD that can skate and defend. Playing for Dynamo Moskva in the MHL. Teammates with Igor Chernyshov.

I’d clip this rush but this hfboards website is from 1999 and can’t handle it. So ffwd to 9:30 remaining in the 2nd: 8.09.2023. МХК «Динамо» МСК – «Амурские Тигры» | (OLIMPBET МХЛ 23/24) – Прямая трансляция

I clipped a really nice short handed steal to a quick bit of puck handling and a nice shot followed by a huge body check but Chernyshov earlier in this game (typical Chernyshov shift) but again, I can’t post it.

If you want to see it, it’s right at the beginning of the 2nd. Like 19:45 remaining in the 2nd.

It would be a good dilemma to be a team really probably leaning towards a D to pick top 3 that looks like its going to be 5'11" skilled forwards.
We have enough size. What we need is more talent.

I want mean too. Chris Pronger and Todd Bertuzzi types. Not the attempted murderer Bertuzzi. Right before that when he was an 80-90 point player and was a huge prick.
I don’t think they make them like that anymore. But I would like to suggest Igor Chernyshov. Unique blend of size, skill, and being a mean bastard. Him and Jiricek are my early favorites for this draft.

So far I think Ba will move heaven and earth to find a way to get Anton Silayev.

He is the perfect blueprint for exactly what the team needs

We have 3 2nds and 3 3rds.

I know Bill likes to honour his scouts by keeping a high volume of picks but I really hope we trade up into the 1st. Day one of the draft is so much fun.

Apart from being a left shot. But he has experience playing the right side. So maybe we can overlook it.

I still need to be sold on his skating having the potential to be a benefit rather than a detriment before I buy the 5 games into the season hype.

Fedotov. Simashev. But. Yep.

Forgot Moroz and Duda. That’s 5 significant pieces.
There’s a Russian at the top of this draft that I absolutely love. And it ain’t Silayev. It’s Chernyshov.

Celebrini, Eiserman, and Demidov would by my 3 dream players.

Jiricek or Kiviharju would be the ones I actually think we might end up getting (and would be extremely nice)

Watch, the one draft where we’re actually wanting a 4th-8th pick so we can get levshunov or Jiricek will be the one where we get 1st and get celebrini
