I just don’t think there’s any way BA doesn’t draft Silayev. He’s gonna be his Soderstrom. If ever there was a defenseman that perfectly encapsulates BA’s wants it’s Silayev. The only way some other team walks out of the draft with him over us is if their GM beats Ba in a fist fight. I’m thoroughly convinced

I watched his MHL playoffs from last season and was quite impressed. I didn’t get to see his hot start in the KHL this year and I know he’s cooled off a ton. So I really don’t know how to project his range.

if eiserman is available at 8 and we don't trade up to get him i will f***ing lose it. also there is just no way catton and lindstrom go 2 and 3. i'm not even convinced lindstrom goes top 10

It's rare that the only solidified spot is the #1 Celebrini

After that, it's wide open...I've seen lists with Eiserman/Lindstrom/Catton/Demidov and then I've seen lists where none of them is in the top 5 let alone top 10.

Always intriguing when only 1 or none of the top spots are fixed

This is such a weird draft. Some people think a guy like Lindstrom is a top 5 guy, others think he’s not even top 15.

Doesn’t matter cuz we’re picking Silayev anyways

There won’t be any Lindstrom outside of the top ten folks for much longer. The McKenzie midterm poll will fix all that.

I don’t know that we’re going to be in range of Silayev. Maybe if Jesse Pulkkinen has a big-time WJC, he’ll rise into the the teens and be someone we consider if we’re picking mid-teens.

Go to 38min mark:

We used a primo asset on JJ Moser. Maybe we do the same for Pulkkinen?

@lanky - I agree with your post in the Silayev thread. He’s probably a Yotes target, but I also suspect they’d target Dean Letourneau. I think Pulkkinen is probably on the radar, too. I agree with you about Emery but I also wouldn’t be surprised if we were looking at Dominik Badinka early.

I thought I posted that in this thread. Oops.
Anyways, Letourneau and Emery are the guys I hope we land.
It'll be hard for Pulkinen and Badinka to raise their draft profile because they're too old for the U18s and too young to be difference makers at the U20s. Might be targets for us in the 2nd.

If by some stroke of luck we could grab 1 or both of Silayev or Levshunov, I'd be a pretty happy camper. I don't think Levshunov goes 2, but I have him at 2 (on my wildly underwatched list). 18 in 18, big body that can move and shut down top players.

Simashev - Levshunov
Silayev - Lamoureux
Szuber - Moser

How filthy is that? Don't any of you dare crush my dream.

I think both are going top ten. Something to keep in mind with Silayev is he’s a left-shot but plays almost exclusively Right Defense. So might want to switch him with Moser on your lineup there. ;)

Wow. Ok.
I just said it would be hard for Pulkinen to raise his draft stock but I obviously know nothing. If he's doing that in Liiga then he's getting drafted in the 1st no question.
Bill will be interested. He likes taking advantage of the older undrafted guys that have already developed in the way you'd hope younger guys will develop.
Well, we've got a butt-load of 2nd round picks...

1 - he's big
2 - seems smooth
3 - good puck skills
4 - engages physically

sure looks like he has the boxes checked for BA and crew

If we’re at 16th and the Flyers are at 19th with their pick and like 24th with their FLA pick, I wonder we could pull off a combo trade down/trade up. If there’s someone there at 16th the Flyers desperately want.

To PHI: 16th+48th+56th

To ARI: 19th+24th

We get Pulkkinen and Letourneau. That way Simashev and But have a couple of guys they can look up to. ;)

We have so many 2nds and 3rds this summer and next. 😀 I'm hoping we start to consolidate them for better picks like your example. It's a good time to have the leagues best scouts.

It seems like the scouts want to keep using tons of picks. Quantity over quality. It seems like Bill wants to let them do it out of respect.

I'm with the rest of you in wanting to consolidate but I'm not confident we're going to get it.

When the team gets closer to contender status you want the right kind of trade chips. Rebuilding teams generally want higher round picks or prospects that are panning out, not 4 3rd round picks and a 2nd.

A 3rd rounder turning into a serviceable player is worth several 3rd round picks, so you'd have to swing and miss a lot to come out behind by not making the picks yourself. Plus the team is built on scouting and drafting right now, so they've got the infrastructure in place to have legitimate scouting reports done on potential picks, bolstering pick matriculation.

Sling let me reactivate my account for $25 so I can watch this tournament. Really excited for this year’s tourney. Love it when Canada is an underdog. Love that Slovakia looks so strong. Makes me think anything is possible. I’m particularly interested in Finland this year.
Did you just get one of orange/blue? $25 is the cost for the month including the dvr? I work 8-7 M-R so I'm going to miss lots of these unless I can get a service that will have them. Did they have all the games?
