I doubt it goes this way for Utah but I would be stoked.

I understand your concerns about drafting too many defensive D-man prospects. However, do not count out Duda. He still has great potential to be an excellent offensive D-man for us.

Remember, he was drafted only 7 picks after Lamoureux as well. I am very high on this prospect.
I was a fan of the pick. It’s hard enough to reach your fullest potential when you don’t flush an entire development year down the toilet.

Hoping Levshunov slides, expecting Buium, won't be disappointed with Dickinson either.
I like Levshunov. I’d take Dickinson, Buium, and Yakemchuk ahead of him. He’s got great tools but I worry about the brain.

There’s a very good chance that Surin, O’Reilly, Solberg, Pulkkinen, and Miettinen go in the top 32.

I’ll be extremely excited if we can get any one of them at 38th.
Miettinen is worth trying to get another pick in the late teens, early 20s imo. He's good!

I haven't watched him. Seems like a Russian Jeannot?
I’ve watched him a bunch. One of my favorites for this draft. Him and Yakemchuk might be my two favorite kids in this class.

He plays a little like Trevor Zegras. Where he’s just a wild ass rover who’s just all skill and hard to control. But he’s also a violent snapcase, maybe like Max Domi. He’s dirty like Domi, too. So his play is extremely undisciplined like Zegras and between the whistles he has major discipline issues like Domi. But he’s team captain and is a big competitor and his teammates seem to love him. He’s got a ton of skill. He’s really just a wild ass player that needs to be tamed down. I use this Dean Lombardi quote all the time because it’s one of my favorites; “It’s better to have to tame a tiger than have to paint stripes on a p***y cat”. That phrase always defines my thinking on all my favorite prospects. And I think it’s especially applicable to Yakemchuk and Surin. Stian Solberg is another.

This is one comp, rt, where I don't think you have it right.

Yegor Surin is a wild man, but he is a two way pure center wild man. He'll go nuts and wrestle someone down after the whistle or run out of his way to make a big hit, but for the most part he's a very strong defensive player with an advanced intelligence for the defensive game. That's closer to the antithesis of Zegras and Domi. I think Brandon Dubinsky is the best comp for Surin.

I like his size and could see him in the NHL as early as next season. Having Kolyachonok as a partner should help.

Would Minnesota trade Rossi to move up?
Would Yakemchuk be there at 13? Somehow could Middleton be included?

I prefer UTAH to trade down as long as they get someone to help next season.

I guess I can expect Yakemchuk to not to last until 13, 10 may be the limit and the only team that may be willing to trade up TO 6 is NJ.

Levshunov would be incredible. Wouldn't want to trade down because we should start to focus on quality over quantity.

I think it would be a huge mistske to put Levshunov in the NHL next season. He’s got a lot to work on in college. His motor is very inconsistent and his decision making is a roller coaster.

Odds are Utah will have someone ranked 3rd or 4th that’s ends up there at 6th. I doubt they trade back.

We only trade back if we have a player we are 100% sure will be there at the pick. It means we are going off the board. Like taking the Norwegian D Solberg or Jiricek.

Combine starts tomorrow.
Testing and measuring probably doesn't happen until next Saturday.
We're in the home stretch towards the draft.
I wish they made a big deal out of this event. I hate how little attention it gets. And I wish they’d actually release the real data. Not just “top ten” finishes in a handful of the events.

Remember that year we figured out how to sign into the actual event site and we accessed all the data? That was awesome to actually have all the numbers. Why can’t they just do that at least?
