It wasnt meant to be instigative or anything. It’s simply how I feel lol I can’t believe people on HF get so worked up about stuff…wow…God forbid someone have a very tongue in cheek, or have a sentiment not completely analyzed and based on evidence and facts..Cm’on. I apologize. Macklin is better than Smith…Oh wait..

I mean that’s one way to say it.

I get it. I hope Smith is some super star marquee player too. I get wanting to have optimism. There’s a chance Smith does end up being a better player. At this moment by literally no metric is Smith a better player than Celebrini though and that is what you said. I don’t think it’s what you meant but even then like it just feels like blind optimism and homerism. I get it Sharks board and all so homerism be damned! But I think you need your opinions to be grounded in some form of realism. Hell that realism could even be “I haven’t watched Celebrini and seen Smith so I think he’s better at this moment.” Whatever I have opinions like that too :laugh:

I think Celebrini gets REALLY underrated around here because last draft had some phenomenal players at the top 3. Personally I think Celebrini is right on par with the likes of Fantilli and Carlsson. Smith is not a player that I think is on par with either of those. I’m not even sure Smith is the 4th best player of the draft.

Again I get wanting to be optimistic and whatever that’s fine but your post comes off as just pure homerism and teal tinted glasses. Again it kind of is what it is but when you get pressed on it you just doubled down with no evidence. I don’t even care if you even just said like oh I like his style of play more or whatever. There was just none of that and it was just “oh these meanies coming after me getting so worked up! Let’s hope no one has a differing opinion!” The issue isn’t the differing opinion. It’s the lack of evidence behind it or any sort of defense.

Well put. Thank you for being so understanding and tolerant of my optimism and blind homerism lol it is true and I apologize again for the completely ignorant post. Let’s get back on track…Smith is better than Eiserman….:ha:Dammit!!
 
To be clear, I’m not at all a troll. Not saying you are referring to me Sharski but I do realize the point Jux and a few others have made. I should better explain WHY I like Smith more than Macklin. It’s not at all in terms of stats and career trajectory. it is completely homerism and a sentiment of support for “our” guy. That’s all. The other stuff was just me being a smartass.

That`s correct, except one thing - Rotenberg is a big hockey fan. He really likes this sport.
But the problem is nobody near him has courage to tell him the truth - he is an awful coach.
And he is vice president of Russian Ice Hockey Federation too.
Edit: Michkov was loaned to Sochi and has 7 points in 7 games

Soz, I didn't mean to imply you were a troll specifically... maybe I worded that badly as I'm sure everyone here has good intentions

Maybe it would have made more sense to have said heels vs faces, Jedi vs Sith, etc... I just think things are much more interesting when there is some degree of conflict here that anyone can partake in

Tldr I miss the old Hodge

Yunno, I shouldn’t have singled you out like that, that wasn’t fair of me. I just was frustrated in the moment because it felt like another one of those mindlessly optimistic posts whose content falls apart to the slightest scrutiny. It’s not really you, it’s just me being curmudgeony; I just can’t stand how the internet allows people to say literally anything they want with absolutely no consequences.

To be clear, it’s okay if you believe that Smith is better than Celebrini, I just wish you would provide just a tiny bit of why you think that instead of just making the statement and walking away like it’s a fact. But you aren’t obligated to, it’s just something that bothers me.

If you truly believe that Philadelphia had anything to do with Michkov moving then I wish I was as naive. Michkov moving had nothing to do with Philadelphia.
