Button's comments on Iggy... I sometimes agree with Button and then I don't. Goes back and forth but I do agree with him on Iggy. I think a lot of fans/media are sleeping on him. One of the most critical ingredients in development is obsession to improve. I think Iggy makes the most gains from all of them in that 18-20 year range.

Button was a part of the Dallas Stars front office that drafted Tij’s father, Jarome, 11th overall in 1995. While he believed Jarome was a very good player when the Stars drafted him, Button did not foresee him as a future Hall of Famer at that time.

“I’ve got the gnawing feeling that I’m underestimating Tij Iginla still,” said Button. “I go back, and I look at my notes on Jarome. They are different types of players. I don’t want to say they’re the same thing but [they possess] the same types of things – [like] massive effectiveness, massive substance, [the ability to] makes things happen.

“We drafted Jarome, and we really liked him, but he was so much better than we thought, and we thought he’d be a really good player. And I’m kind of caught up in the same boat with Tij.”

Iginla had 47 goals and 84 points in 64 games with the Rockets this season, and added nine goals and 15 points in 11 playoff games.

The 17-year-old then wrapped up the campaign by helping Canada win gold at the U18s, where he scored six goals and 12 points in seven games.

Yeah… It feels more and more like this is going to be the top 5:

Celebrini
Levshunov
Silayev
Lindstrom
Demidov

Very good news for us. On top of Demidov, wed need to add another top 6 C imo. We have to build 3 lines with evenly spread talent.

I’m all over the phone if Iginla-Sennecke+Catton+Eiserman are still all available at 10

I really wonder what’s the plan in place if top 5 takes away both Lindstrom & Demidov… I think you gotta get a D moving, pick Lev/Buium and add another top 15 pick

More it goes, and more I think Iginla will be our pick.. principal cause is Demidov and Lindstrom are gonna be claim

He also has a really good pedigree
1. One of the youngest player of the draft. (He won’t stay at 6ft and 190 lbs. wich is already fine) his developpement curve his always up. (Catton, lindstrom. Bad playoff)
2. Has a really good tournament wjc-18 and playoff in the WHL
3. His qualities are well transposable in the NHL (score around the net, strong on the puck and along the board, elite shot).
I could see a next Zach Hyman wich is pretty useful.
I see him as a 5th best player on a contender team, so behind Suzuki, Slaf , Dach, Caufield, thats fine. I think he could be more useful than Caufield btw.
HuGo arent always concenssus pick. They will pick him, even if they could at 9.

If Demidov and Lindstrom are claimed, from all what's out there, it's going to be between Buium and Sennecke.

I've thought this for months now. Demidov had a chance at slipping but not after his new weight/height. The only other guy I would consider over Iggy is Dickinson.

Iginla is hot trending and very young. Very hungry to improve and he will fill in to reach his father size (6'-1" and 210 lbs). He already has a NHL shot, great U18's, Great CHL playoffs, and knows how to play in traffic and along the walls. His body protection on the boards is well ahead of the curve. His father is not only showing him how to shoot the puck, he's showing him what it takes to be effective with less time/space.

Take the guy you think will improve the most. Iggy is my pick. Won't be upset with others though. Lots to like with several guys.

Senneke droped some too I think 11

Cole E at 14
Berkly at 12

interesting

Just proves how close several guys are. It really is a deep top 14.
