How does Levshunov compare to S Nemec?
IMO not very well. Nemeč was my top pick in 2022, I think he's a better skater, passer, smarter, and a better defender. Levshunov could stay on this development curve which is what you'd be banking on, but I don't see it as particularly close between the two of them at draft time.

I've thought this for months now. Demidov had a chance at slipping but not after his new weight/height. The only other guy I would consider over Iggy is Dickinson.

Iginla is hot trending and very young. Very hungry to improve and he will fill in to reach his father size (6'-1" and 210 lbs). He already has a NHL shot, great U18's, Great CHL playoffs, and knows how to play in traffic and along the walls. His body protection on the boards is well ahead of the curve. His father is not only showing him how to shoot the puck, he's showing him what it takes to be effective with less time/space.

Take the guy you think will improve the most. Iggy is my pick. Won't be upset with others though. Lots to like with several guys.

Just proves how close several guys are. It really is a deep top 14.
still think Senneke is our guy
if Demi or Lindstrom gone

Teams keeps their best player and let their worse on the tradeblock. This not as simple saying, « lets get a D, and will trade someone later for a forward ». Forward right now on the Market are Necas, Zegras, Laine. they are all on the market for a eeason and this is not really attractive. Having a young force like Iginla, scoring 30 goals. And + at 22 years old and be a force in playoff, it something you won’t be able to get from another club

Well said. The bold part is the most important. Force in the playoffs. You don't want a regular season flashy guy that fades when the going gets rough. This is not the NBA. NHL playoffs are brutal competition.

I hope Sennecke is not our pick at 5. I'm OK if we trade down and take him though. I think there is a size drool with him. I think he is a top 6F asset like Batherson. I have higher standards at 5. If he breaks out into a dynamic top 6F who is nasty, I'll eat crow, but those consistency, skating, and trying to force plays are red flags for me. I totally see what others are seeing but my nit pick list is evident.

Lindstrom's injuries scare me. Could be chronic. Missing with our 5th pick on someone who has injury issues will hurt a lot.

Iggy or Dickinson are my picks if Demidov is gone before 5. When I try to nit pick Iginla's flaws, I have difficulty.

the trade someone posted with the ducks seems fair, and makes sense, if the ducks have their eye on 2-dman they equally like this year.

offense sells though, I think the three forwards go top 4 and we're sitting with our #1 d pick. hard to say no to a guy you think will be a #1 d-man in the draft.

If one of Danford, Kleber or Brunicke is available at 57 I'll be very happy.

Maybe Raoul and Zether in the 3rd.

I’m all over the phone if Iginla-Sennecke+Catton+Eiserman are still all available at 10

I really wonder what’s the plan in place if top 5 takes away both Lindstrom & Demidov… I think you gotta get a D moving, pick Lev/Buium and add another top 15 pick
Wonder which team would be open to trade. NJD and BUF likely want to make playoffs next year but what would they entertain a Matheson as a main piece for that price? Not so sure.

Nothing new or groundbreaking, but here’s the latest from Eric Engels:

I believe (but can’t say with 100 per cent certainty) they’d be equally happy to land either Ivan Demidov or Cayden Lindstrom. I like their chances of getting one or the other with their pick.

But if neither are available when they step to the podium, that’s where things will get interesting.

If the Canadiens don’t see another forward on their list as equal to one of the premier defencemen who may be available, then I don’t think they’ll hesitate to take a defenceman.

They could do worse than adding one of Zeev Buium, Artyom Levshunov, Anton Silayev, Sam Dickinson or Zayne Parekh to their core.

It's also entirely possible that Hughes and the Canadiens not only see another forward as equal or better to those players but also see one as on par with Demidov or Lindstrom. If they do, then perhaps they’ll pick that player at five.

But if the Canadiens think they’ll still be able to get that player lower down the order, they could explore collecting another premium asset to move down.

Acquiring one would only feed their potential to make other big things happen over the weekend.

Whether they budge from the fifth position or not, their other first-round pick (26th overall, acquired from the Winnipeg Jets in the Sean Monahan trade) is certainly in play.

I think it’s more likely the Canadiens move it than keep it.

If the Canadiens don’t find a trade for a bona fide top-six forward that makes sense to them, I think they’ll try to package the 26th pick with other assets to acquire another top-10 pick.

Under this scenario, they could select two future core players and turn to free agency to fill more immediate needs.

It’s anything but assured they’ll be able to make such a move, but that’s why they call it a bold prediction.

I'm holding out hope that Anaheim is leaning defense and tries to create a bidding war between us and Columbus for 3rd overall.

This is another one of Engels articles where he spends his time saying absolutely nothing.

"This might happen, but it might not. I dunno lol".

Wow. Thanks Eric.

Using bob's list where I can't draft a player more than 5 spots ahead or below of where they are ranked.

5th overall: Demidov/Lindstrom/Sennecke
26th overall: Hage/Boisvert/Basha
57th: Battaglia/Mustard/Jecho
70th: Wetsch/Villeneuve/Marques
78th: Smith/Koivu/Vaisanen
