Alright boys, I need to be sold on Buium. My friends would love the pick if Demidov is gone, but I just can't get excited by what I read about him.
Tell me why he'd be a great pick, considering our team and why him over Parekh if we go D?
So far I'd need new pants if we land Demidov, I'd be excited if we end up with Lindstrom and happy if we go Sennecke. With the recent talk, only Buium's name comes up in rumours that doesn't get me feeling good. Change my mind
I was one of the first to hype up the Zeev.
He's 3rd on my list, 6th on the list for the Habs. If the Habs do end up picking him, the problem is gonna be who do we move to acquire a forward. I think we're more than likely to lose value on the forward we trade for rather than the difference between Zeev and, say Lindstrom, who would be my next forward ranked after 5.
With that said, Buium, in a vacuum, is one of the most impressive D I've seen in a while, more than Reinbacher, whom I've loved last year, more than Nemec, who I had 1OA and certainly more than Power and certainly a lot more than Sanderson/Drysdale. He's an all-tools kind of player with no weakness. His main strength is the IQ and vision, he's masterful in a way only a select few defenders are on the blue line. He's not Makar at all, he won't shake and bake three defenders but what he will do is tweak a little move and set off the whole defense. His understanding of defensive patterns in an offensive context are incredible at a young age. I hate doing this but he reminds me of the general. Maybe that's why I like him so much.
His offensive game is just flat out better than Parekh. The only special thing Parekh has is his goalscoring, just like Boqvist, he's gonna have trouble translating that, I'm learning from my mistakes.
Buiums shot may be his only weakness and it's not "bad" per say, it's just weak a bit. I'm sure it's gonna go up in speed like it did for Hughes.
I have not watched Buium much, but for those who have... how would his style and tools compare to our very own Andrei Markov? Markov never had the best physical tools even in his prime. But he was just so smart and the difference between when he was in the lineup and when he was injured (which was a lot) was night and day.
Lol read my post right below yours.
Scary coincidence.
He's a better skater than Marky but the rest is very similar IMO.
