Alright boys, I need to be sold on Buium. My friends would love the pick if Demidov is gone, but I just can't get excited by what I read about him.

Tell me why he'd be a great pick, considering our team and why him over Parekh if we go D?

So far I'd need new pants if we land Demidov, I'd be excited if we end up with Lindstrom and happy if we go Sennecke. With the recent talk, only Buium's name comes up in rumours that doesn't get me feeling good. Change my mind

He was the best player on the best NCAA team as a 17 year old. And when I say best player it's not only "He made nice moves and scored goals", it's he played a crucial role both ways of the ice and played like a #1 defenceman on a championship team.

Guhle + Lane Hutson = Zeev Buium.

Buium-Reinbacher
Guhle-Mailloux
Hutson-Xhekaj

You get 3 minute munching all situations defenseman in your top 4. That projects well for the playoffs, which is how they are building this team, to win a cup.

Also right now Hutson is their only player that projects to be a puck moving defenseman. They might not feel comfortable gambling on him becoming a top 4 guy and can play playoff hockey to pass on Buium who is basically a lock to be one, probably closer to top pairing.

He good.

I have not watched Buium much, but for those who have... how would his style and tools compare to our very own Andrei Markov? Markov never had the best physical tools even in his prime. But he was just so smart and the difference between when he was in the lineup and when he was injured (which was a lot) was night and day. The scouting reports on Buium remind me a bit of Markov so that's why I ask.

I was one of the first to hype up the Zeev.

He's 3rd on my list, 6th on the list for the Habs. If the Habs do end up picking him, the problem is gonna be who do we move to acquire a forward. I think we're more than likely to lose value on the forward we trade for rather than the difference between Zeev and, say Lindstrom, who would be my next forward ranked after 5.

With that said, Buium, in a vacuum, is one of the most impressive D I've seen in a while, more than Reinbacher, whom I've loved last year, more than Nemec, who I had 1OA and certainly more than Power and certainly a lot more than Sanderson/Drysdale. He's an all-tools kind of player with no weakness. His main strength is the IQ and vision, he's masterful in a way only a select few defenders are on the blue line. He's not Makar at all, he won't shake and bake three defenders but what he will do is tweak a little move and set off the whole defense. His understanding of defensive patterns in an offensive context are incredible at a young age. I hate doing this but he reminds me of the general. Maybe that's why I like him so much.

His offensive game is just flat out better than Parekh. The only special thing Parekh has is his goalscoring, just like Boqvist, he's gonna have trouble translating that, I'm learning from my mistakes.

Buiums shot may be his only weakness and it's not "bad" per say, it's just weak a bit. I'm sure it's gonna go up in speed like it did for Hughes.

Lol read my post right below yours.

Scary coincidence.

He's a better skater than Marky but the rest is very similar IMO.

Haven’t really watched any of the dmen much. Is Buium similar to Fox? From some of the descriptions here that’s kind of how he sounds. Not many standout tools outside of insane IQ but above average to good in every single category. Idk lol that might not even be a good description of Fox.

If guhle can play effectively RHD, Buium is an awesome pick. Run Buium-Guhle and Hutson-Reinbacher 45 mins a game and see what happens

Can you give us notes?
- Said Buium be a star.
- Lindstrom is Kreider type
- If Demidov and Lindstrom gone He would take Catton at 5. He is most skilled. But thinks Habs take Sennecke because of size. Called him highlight goal machine. Inconsistent but had great playoff.
- teams don't like taking Russians high in draft.
- Hawks take Levs. Ducks take Silayev at 3. mentioned if dealt Zegras Ducks may take forward.
- Parekh could slide due to depth in defense this draft

Kind of lame actually.

Holy, I'd say draft him then.

If Habs pick Zeev Buium if Demidov or Lindstrom are gone, I will be a very happy man.

Buium is my favorite D in this year draft class, he have the potential to become the best D in few years.

He would be a very very solid player to add with Habs.

He can play RD aswell.

Guhle - Buium.
Hutson - Reinbacher.

Or trade Guhle (I don't want trade him, but with Engstrom and Xhekaj at LD, Buium aswell, we need to trade great value to acquire great value at forward) and let play Buium with Mailloux.

Hutson - Reinbacher.
Buium - Mailloux.

That's insane D-core.

Everyone talks about how Florida is built but their lack of game breaking D is glaring. Look at those PP stats in final; I’m not saying this because I want a forward to drop but Chicago going forward would be incredibly shortsighted if they leave a future #1 D on table

I like Bouchard but he isn’t a “game breaking D”, who else do Edm have on the back end?

As for Fla PP, not enough credit if being given to Oilers dominant playoff PK - it’s been legendary throughout the playoffs

Let’s say Buium needs a year of seasoning before he’s ready. I don’t know his plans, but not unreasonable for a 5 OA …

In 2025, do you think Hughes would roll with a D corps with 24 year old Xhekaj as the oldest player?

I don’t - and I like the lines. I’d just expect a trade … or an extension … or both.
