Lindstrom is on my personal Do not draft list since it was revealed he had a herniated disk.

I had a wiener dog when I was a kid. I loved him dearly but he eventually suffered a herniated disk. He was never the same afterwards.

Of course my dog was not a professional hockey player, and good thing he wasn't. I can't imagine him having to hit people for a living after that injury.

We must have different understandings of the word "consensus". There is consensus on Levshunov's high end tools and offensive abilities. However, there is far from consensus on his IQ and defensive play. This is why his rankings range anywhere from 2-11. Most have him at the upper end of that scale but he also has his sceptics.
Every prospect has skeptics and doubts. There are no sure things.

You made it seem like you had important insight into his game from the perspective of knowledgeable commentators and analysts (valuable) but I don’t think you do.

My assertion: When compared to other defensemen prospects of the 2023 and 2024 draft, Levshunov seems to be at the top of the heap. Whether the consensus is (a) he is expected to learn better defensive play or (b) he has good defensive instincts already in him, I don’t know, but whatever knocks against him, there are more knocks overall against other D prospects.

I don’t remember Reinbacher’s reports very well though my gut tells me Lev is overall better regarded (as draft prospect) than him as well. Reinbacher seems to fall within that topX consensus for 2024 though, so he isn’t too far off.

Yeah I don’t know how the Caydophiles can square the “super beast powerforward unicorn” with ‘… has a back injury that never heals’

The problem is that CBJ have no reason to risk a 4OA pick on him either. Do they go for Denison? Does ANA? CHI?

If CBJ want a forward and Lindstrom is DND, who can they draft other than Demidov?

We’re behind the looking glass.

Didn't a report come out that they were leaning Lindstrom or sennecke

I don't think it ever swung heavily in Slaf's favor. It was always Wright until the very end where Slaf was a possibility.
Wright on draft day ….

same old things.. nothing crazy

"would KH pick a forward but if the top 2 forwards done, would he pick a D man?"
KH will pick the BPA , blah blah we can say the same stuff too

he says Catton could go 5 if lindstrom, demi and other gone.

He mentioned that he thinks Chicago is leaning Levshunov, Anaheim is leaning Silayev and he thinks Columbus would go Lindstrom over Demidov if they're both available.

I hope he's right but I really doubt it.

So forwards:
Lindstrom / Demi
Defense / Catton
?

Someone dropped by so I missed most of it as well. I caught the last couple of minutes or so and he was asked who he would pick at 5 if both Lindstrom and Demidov were gone and he said he would personally take Catton but not sure the Habs would want another smaller forward. Also mentioned Sennecke for pick 5.

They usually put the audio up on the 690 website after so I'll post a link to the audio when I see it.

Audio is up already.

Pronman is everywhere these days. He's doing mock drafts, rankings, interviews....he is getting around more than a bad case of herpes.

Anyways, will give it a listen.

Can you give us notes?

Nothing that we didn't already know. Here's what I thought was of interest :
  • He comments on Demidov’s measurements : Some teams want to do nothing with Russians high in the draft and the measurements would do nothing for them. On the other hand, it’s the teams who had pauses on the size/translatability of his game that would care about the updated measurements.
  • He thinks Levshunov to Chicago is the likely pick. That being said, it could change. The Hawks love Demidov and they took him out to dinner.
  • Regarding the Ducks: Silayev is the likely pick, presuming Levshunov goes 2nd OV.
  • He thinks Buuim merits talk as a top 5 talent in the draft.
  • Regarding Columbus: It’s not impossible Demidov could go to CLB. He believes Michkov was never really considered at 3rd OV last year. They met with Demidov. He believes the likely scenario is Lindstrom. He believes Lindstrom is likely a winger in the NHL. His natural comparison is Kreider.

No. I acknowledged up front that I'm in the minority on Levshunov and have been all season and that there are some hockey people out there who have the same questions I do on some important areas for a defenseman especially as they move up to the next level. Nobody is questioning his offense or tools and far more scouts are higher than me on Levshunov. That's why he's in the top 5 on most lists. I still think he's a strong prospect who would obviously be great to have in the system but I don't have him top 5. We'll know in 3-5 years. No need to always get so sensitive when someone points out an imperfection or questions something about a player you like.

If Reinbacher was in this draft, he'd likely be anywhere between 1-7 in the D rankings depending on the list. One thing Reinbacher has going for him is that he has tested well against men in strong pro leagues. The transition from amateur to the NHL for young D isn't easy and usually takes time.

Alright boys, I need to be sold on Buium. My friends would love the pick if Demidov is gone, but I just can't get excited by what I read about him.

Tell me why he'd be a great pick, considering our team and why him over Parekh if we go D?

So far I'd need new pants if we land Demidov, I'd be excited if we end up with Lindstrom and happy if we go Sennecke. With the recent talk, only Buium's name comes up in rumours that doesn't get me feeling good. Change my mind

I'm not the man for this job.

Can actually play defense maybe unless Parekh who seems to be a liability in his own zone.

You should not have to dig too far.

Everything speak for itself. Hours of shift by shift easily available

Question :

Dress a list of the top 10 defenseman in the league.

For a defenseman to enter this category of elite, what should its draft year looks like?

-2nd youngest player next to Celebrini to be in the top 10 in scoring of the NCAA. Only defenseman in there, above the likes of Lane Hutson and Seamus Casey.
-Best scorer in his team. The leader of a strong NCAA program.
-Hobey Baker nomination
-Rookie of the year in his division.
-Stellar WJC.
-Excels in all three zone and shows excellent defensive acuity. Is first and foremost an excellent puck mover who display high IQ.

Go watch tape and see his skills now.

Is this a player who's upside is a top 10 defenseman in the league in his prime?

It is unclear if he ever reaches that upside. We don't know and he has some element of uncertainty too, like every prospect. I would be totally okay with Lindstrom and Demidov above Buium because i think they have the gamebreaking talent.

Let me just finish by saying that there is not a single team in the league that is deep enough at defense to ignore the upside of Zeev Buium. Not even the f***ing Buffalo Sabres. (Dahlin, power, byram all ld)

Him over Parekh because the only thing hat Parekh has on him is right handedness and i will give Parekh an edge on offense
. Buium is much more complete and much more competent is in his own zone and at ES like its not even f***ing close.
