I just don't see us taking a LD. It's not going to happen.

And we've already got an offensive RD in Mailloux so... unless its Levshunov (RD too good to pass up and probably won't reach us) I don't see us taking D.

I dont want us going D with our pick either and definetly don't want to trade Mailloux but basing off of what's come out of the combine I have a feeling we'd go defense over Iginla and Sennecke. If Demidov and Lindstrom are both gone I can see us taking a defenseman if Hughes has a trade for a forward lined up.

Might not be Mailloux since he is a RD but I think he'd be the more likely option over guys like Guhle, Hutson, and Reinbacher. Don't think Engstrom or Xhekaj have the value to return what Hughes would be looking for.

I'm not high on either Iginla or Sennecke really so it's tough to say what I'd prefer to happen if both Demidov and Lindstrom are gone.

So I looked into it and I assume you mean Ryan Whitney, in which case please never seriously cite him as a source again.

Ryan Kennedy's article is godawful and reads like a gossip magazine, also giving no sources.

So it's on the word of Brunet, some teammates allegedly, the Washington scout who never had a realistic shot at drafting him, and two GMs passing on him for positions of need.

As for the teammates, plenty of great players in hockey pissed off their teammates a lot more than Michkov did. Ask Craig Janney.
Yes Ryan Whitney. I hate the guy too but he still has connections and played in the KHL himself. Again, what reason does he have to make this up?

And the Washington scout, why would he make it up? He had a shot to draft him, they picked one spot after the Flyers. Seems to me like they would have taken Leonard regardless.

There’s literally a video of Gorton saying “he’s the most talented at our spot, give me a reason not to take him.” Lo and behold, the Habs didn’t take him.

You keep denying everything but where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Some poster here are claiming that Demidov playing another year in the MHL will be bad.

Those same poster were clamoring in the Slafkovsky thread that he should have played in the CHL to know how to dominate offensively a league.

Make it make sense.

Here is my take : it is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things were Demidov play next year. As long as he is in North America in his D+2.

The only blueliner I could see us taking is Levshunov. And that's because he's RD and too good to pass up. I doubt he gets to us so I think it'll be a forward.

We'll see.

If I had to bet money on it I would say the draft goes

1. SJS: Celebrini
2. CHI: Levshunov
3. ANA: Dickinson
4. CBJ: Lindstrom
5. MTL: Demidov

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here but I think mintyukov plays RD even though he's left handed. That's my main point of optimism when looking at Anaheim's potential pick at 3. Zellweger is not a top pairing guy, more of a no.3/4 so Anaheim and Verbeek might be looking for a big/punishingly defensive type of LD like Dickinson or silayev. Especially since next draft is absolute booty when it comes to D relative to this draft.

We all saw your rant. I'm not going to dissect it.

Totally fine to not like a player. Totally fine to be skeptical. But you're way over the top here.

The one thing that makes me more glass half full with sennecke is going from 5'10 to 6'3 practically is extremely rare at his age and his second half production was great. That being said I'd feel more comfortable with the Habs trading up to 10-15 (might have to gamble with future picks) if they really want to take him. He's also someone that mccagg and Simon the snake actually agree on which is strange. Interesting all around

fwiw McCagg said the names he's heard linked to Anaheim so far are Sennecke and Yakemchuk.

Music to my ears

And Therrien once said Subban needed to be a better person. They don't have to "make it up" for it to simply be wrong.

Yakemchuk makes sense. Sennecke doesn't. They want right shots preferably, especially at forward. If they liked Sennecke they'd obviously prefer Lindstrom imo

There's enough smoke from enough different entities to reasonably assume he isn't a high character individual currently.

Do you ever ask why SKA is so willing to have Michkov play for anyone but them?

Well Sennecke shoots right and Lindstrom shoots left so.

I also wouldn't be shocked if teams have Sennecke over Lindstrom, which is a question I asked about a month ago. I like Sennecke's upside more than Lindstrom.

Honestly we have gotten to the part of the discourse where everyone has dug in on their guys and won't change their opinion.

Most of the recent posts have been the guy I like has no risk and is guaranteed to be this and the guy I don't like has big risk and isn't the guarantee people who like him think he is.
Well, the guy I like isn’t going to be picked. Is a risk. And isn’t liked around here.

But I still think his ceiling is awesome and I’d still take him.

As I’ve said previously though, I have faith in our scouts and I’ll be happy no matter what - as long as it’s a forward.

f*** my brain, yeah Lindstrom shoots left which is why they might not take him despite being their type. Sennecke at 3 would be hype shit

Yakemchuk is popular with those who like him; they fawn over him. Physicality goes miles with scouts.

This draft is a total mystery. Feels like an NFL draft when someone can fall 10 spots if not taken in the top 5 because of needs.

It’s actually worth nothing, IMO. The problem with social media is that it allows morons like him to have careers, when he’d be of more societal use as an airport baggage handler or something like that.

Yakemchuk is pretty talented but his defense is really bad, and he takes a lot of dumb stick penalties. If you can iron that out it's all good, but I wouldn't even think of taking him top 10, let alone top 3.

I loved the idea of Lindstrom and Slafkovsky pissing on the leafs, but that's a no for me dawg.

It's Demidov or give me death by a dull blade instead.
