I guess I'm nitpicking, but just because your dad, or someone else was good doesn't mean you will be.

Mario Lemieux's kid was no good.
Martin Brodeur's kid was/is no good.
Patrick Roy's kid sucked.

If people see his stats and see who is dad is and think he's a no brainer, that's just bad scouting.
It’s more than stats. He’s a clutch player. You can see he has the personality that would fit very well with the guys we already have.

He reminds me a lot of Nick Suzuki,

If you’re looking for Nick Suzuki, Helenius is a lot closer.

Catton relies more on his skating, doesn’t really have the grit Suzuki flashes, and lacks the details/nuance (off puck especially) that Suzuki has shown since junior. That being said, I think Catton’s got a higher ceiling offensively with better tools at the same age and isn’t afraid to push things offensively.

I’ve got a personal interest in seeing Catton with the Habs, so I’m avoiding commenting on him very much. However, I will say that I expected him to fill out more through the year and was a bit disappointed with how the playoffs went for him.

He was definitely a special player but all 3 of his Norris wins are a joke imo,
?????

I mean, this is just so backwards. Not only was he the right guy but he got ripped off for another in 2016. It was one of the worst votes in recent memory.

As for him not tilting the ice this is also wildly incorrect. No he wasn’t great in his own end but when he was on the ice the puck was almost always in the other team’s end.

No he’s not Bobby Orr but who is?

Youre seriously gonna use the 1 centre in the league who's small, but also happens to share top 6 duties with a hall of famer in Stamkos? Whos 6'1" 200lbs?

Thankfully Hugo knows better. This isn't junior.
Yes I'll use the proven example of a top 10 1C who's smaller than Catton

He was such a net positive in those two aspects that I don't really care what you'd want to call him. He was the best in the world at his position, even if he played like a rover.

Gainey never put up big points but he was absolutely one of the best centermen even if he neglected the "most important part of his position"
When he was on the ice the puck was in the other end. That’s what I’m hoping will happen with Hutson. I wouldn’t shy away from drafting one way blueliners if they are capable of dominating the puck. Just pair them with a stay at home guy to mitigate the in zone weaknesses.

I think people have this image of a blueliner that he has to play a certain way to be valuable. It’s not the case. There are many ways to skin the cat.

That could be. I haven't observed Helenius much to judge. But in this video, you can see Catton's talent, IQ and great shot. After Demidov, he remains my favorite choice.

He's a first ballot Hall of Famer. Would you take him at #6 overall this June? That's how all this started.

Geezaz...he has outscored our top forward almost every season throughout his Hall of Fame career.
He dragged an extremely mediocre Sens team to one goal from the Cup Finals. He basically never came off the ice. He was incredible and is still an excellent player.

I cant wait till this draft is over so I don't here about Berkly Catton ever again
You are tied about the fact that he is not 6.0 and 200 pounds..me either...

And Suzuki is 5'11"... you rolling out two centres below 6'0" for your top 6? Plus newhook (borderline) and 5'6" CC?

Really?

If he's not Center, then he shouldn't go top 10.
Catton is better than Newhook so draft the better one and trade the other in 2 years when Catton is ready to jump.

Do you see Catton as a center?
I think he's a W in the NHL, but I wouldn't be opposed to a CC-Catton-Slaf line with Suzuki/Dach on a more shutdown line either.

Compared to Smith last year, I think Catton is on the right side of the puck more often, even if I don't think his defensive engagement is the highest.
