It feels like our 1st rounder will be just after the consensus top forwards are gone and we will be left with drafting from a group of LD's.......ugggh

We do need some talent up front so it would certainly be a bit saddening.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing though. Look at Colorado who ended up with Makar.

They just need to pick the right player even if it’s a defenseman.

I understand the feel for wanting a top forward at our pick.

But if its not possible, i dont see it as a problem. Top 15 picks are extremely valuable and can bring in top talent via trade.

We need to nail our pick whatever position it is. At worst it will create a terrific trade value. As long as we drafted a player.

Also, MBN would be nice.

Konsta continues to do a lot of things well but it's just not quite there for him yet. He scored a beautiful shoot out goal.

Watched a bit of Jiricek and Benak today. Adam is good, but his brother is better.

Yes, after having drafted Rantanen, Mackinon and Landeskog. And Makar is the best dman in the NHL.

Here we got Slafkovsky and Reinbacher. Not exactly the same quality. We still need a superstar forward and a #1 goalie.
Rantanen would’ve been called a bust or a 40 points player at best after his first 20 something games in the NHL if he was drafted by the habs.

Took him 13 games to get his first NHL point and 15 to get his first NHL goal.

You would not have called him ‘’quality’’.

You think Colorado would have regretted drafting Makar even with a lesser forward group ?

No doubt we need forwards, but in the end talent is talent. There’s still a lot of time for other forwards to come up in the draft.

I can't speak for this board, but I would adopt a child just to name them Juraj if he had put up 60 pts in 52 AHL games last year, followed by 20 goals this year.

I was interested to go back and look at my draft-year-absolute-favorites since 2016:

2016: Tkachuk, Cam Dineen
2017: Heiskanen
2018: Hughes, Kaut, Miller
2019: Byram, Boldy, Heinola
2020: Perfetti, Reichel
2021: Johnston, Evans
2022: Nemec, Nazar
2023: Benson
2024: Catton (for now)

Overall some pretty good calls, we'll see if Catton is one as well.

We are loaded with picks in the next couple of drafts.

I hope we hit next year with a sniper to round out our top 6.

Nikita Artomonov is 17. Just scored his first of the season, i've only seen 2 games but I am very impressed, he's got to be one of the top prospects for this draft.

Totally agree on Artomonov. But the other guy was asking about Atanosov, who is 21. Great to hear that Artomonov scored his first. Larionov is doing some great things in Novgorod.

Early days but it seems like the real talent is in North America and Russia this year. Not a great year for Sweden. Finland's crop has some talent but I don't see any top 5 upside. Outside of Jiricek central europe is a crapshoot.

Trevor Connelly is next on my watch list. Some of his highlights are pretty incredible.

For me a good Reinbacher comp is Pietrangelo. He won two cups. STL won without superstar forward with a balanced lineup and a strong defensive corp (and good goaltending though). The issue with Superstar lineups is the cap left for depth ;)

Kiviharju scored his first Liiga goal.

Pretty nice goal if you ask me.

The issues with him are not the hands or the highlight reel, it is consistency and defensive implication from what I have seen.
