It’s a bit of a blessing that Lindstrom has been hurt. I think if he played all year, with his size and talent level, he’d be the consensus #2 forward in the draft. Now there’s a good chance he falls to the Habs (barring some crazy record-breaking U18)

Luchenko would be a pretty solid pick with Winnipeg's pick too. Assuming we're still holding it. I wouldn't mind moving up though.

I just can't take it seriously, but this is his ranking not a mock so.. you get to see Scott Wheeler's biases up front.

Only the offensive first (and only) defenseman rank high, doesn't matter how far the rest of the world drops Eiserman, he's got him at 4.

No respect at all for Lindstrom and Yakemchuk, too tall for his liking.

It's almost a meme of himself.

I concur that Eiserman being that high seems a little farfetched. Even if I can were to draw up a list of 15-20 prospects this year that I feel even remotely confident in giving an opinion for, Eiserman would likely still be around the 11-15 range anyway.

If Eiserman ends up translating his goal-scoring prowess in the NHL without being a net negative player elsewhere, guess Wheeler can take that to the bank.

Still hardly the worst ranking I've seen in the past year.

It’s just weird that he even admits in his profile of Eiserman that he has one elite tool and needs coaching to figure the rest out. But why would a player with one elite tool be ranked ahead of players with multiple elite tools like Lindstrom, Catton, Yakemchuk? Doesn’t make sense.

Wheeler goes PRODUCTION and then goes back to bed. Even though the production is pretty good for the other guys, too..

11-15? Gawd that would be terrible like ranking Caufield in the teens. Lets learn from our mistakes, shall we? Even a guy like Kaliyev is making an impact in this league and lets be honest, Eiserman is NOT Kaliyev.

Yes, there is a lot of good players in this draft, but theres not 14 better players than Eiserman.

Needs to play in the KHL or at least VHL. Hes not being tested, at all. Thats one instance where being in a lower league can actually hurt you. Hell never be able to do this in pro leagues, atleast not on the frequency he does it now.

The way the top of the draft is shaping up right now, it's not gonna matter much. The "only" difference is you get more choices to chose from the earlier you pick. But in the end, most kids between 2 and 8 are interchangeable.

The only one I don't think falls to 5-7 is Demidov but that means we need to win the 2nd pick anyways.

I'm still not sure with Lindstrom considering his injury.
I have looked and looked for info on Lindstrom's injury, heck he plays in the city where I live, cannot find boo on his status other than upper body injury. No return date anywhere that I can see. When he was injured they said mid Feb, since then crickets.

We good bro, we more than good.
That was not enough though and that's why Avs paid one of the best young dman in the league drafted 4th overall to acquire Mittlestatd. Byram had probably been on the trade block for a while too and that's the best the could do.

And i'm still not sure it's going to be enough without Landeskog coming back. They lost a lot of firepowef from the cup winning lineup. They lost Landeskov (60points defensive winger), Kadri (60 points center who is a pest to play against) and Burakovsky (20 goals 50 points winger with size). Those 3 players have intangibles that you don't find at every corner on top of being 50 to 60 points guys.

So i think going with the mind set that Ranta, BigMac and Nichi is enough is kind of flawed. And all this is ignoring Makar who is pretty much a generational offensive talent at the blueline.

Don’t we always talk about a player’s ceiling though? What do you think Eiserman’s ceiling is?

I think there is a slight chance Demidov is available at our pick. I feel RD will be in high demand for Columbus, San Jose, Senators also Chicago might also go for any defender. It just depends if they would draft players like Parekh or Yakemchuk above all the forwards.

Eiserman is a joker but I feel he will drop at the draft. Only possible team interested IMO would be San Jose with their Boston Area connections.

You’re right, no update however it wasn’t just an injury but one that required surgery:

« The 18-year-old center for Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League is week to week following surgery to repair an upper-body injury he sustained in December. »

He hasn’t played since Dec. 16th. His surgery took place on Jan. 10th.

Could be a tricky injury that they tried to heal with therapy and when it didn’t work, they opted for surgery (or maybe the delay between the injury and surgery was due in part to the holidays).

The 4-6 week projected rehab following his Jan. 10 surgery, was obviously optimistic however there may have been complications.

Teams will no doubt have access to his medical records and will be able to assess if he represents a re-injury risk. Maybe that will cause him to slip in draft ranks which could benefit the Habs.

Just my 2 cents in trying to connect the dots.

Latest is they think he will be ready for the U-18s.

The U-18s is going to be massive for Catton, Helenius, Lindstrom, Iginla and Eiserman.

I just don’t see why a team would pass up on him. In fact, if Lindstrom fell a lot I would wonder how serious the injury concerns are because there’s no reason to pass up on him due to him being injured for a couple of months.

Columbus has a ton of defensemen, it was part of the reason why Jiricek voiced his displeasure of not getting much of a chance. They also love their Russians there. The only chance would be them wanting to add some more size/physicality with Johnson/Gaudreau/Brindley as part of the organization.
