Winnipeg's tumbling a little bit. There a chance that pick could be around 22nd. Assuming all these guys are available (I know they will not all be there), rank them in your order of preference for our 2nd first-round pick:

Brandsegg-Nygard, Sennecke, Surin, Hage, Chernysov, Hemming, Greentree, Boisvert

McCagg is really high on Surin and after watching some stuff, I understand why, thats the type of homerun swing I would take personally. I doubt Hemming will be available, but if so, thats another potential steal. I like MBS as well. One will likely drop so that pick is looking more and more interesting. Senneke and Luchanko, good options too.

I like MBN and Surin the best, but Sennecke, Hemming or Chernysov would be nice. Interested to see what others think.

McCagg is pretty good at calling late risers pretty early, seems like he still has a lot of convos in the scouting community and knows who is valued higher by some NHL teams

Yep indeed, Hockeyprospect is not bad either, but Recrutes are doing a great job and they get better and better at rankings. I find their 1st round this year to be particuliary accurate, especially in the 2nd half of the 1st round, so people can look at their ranking and have a good idea of the names in the hat for the Jets 1st. I think Grant is right on Surin, only watched 1 game, but that kid has alot of great tools and I find he plays a NA style, so translatable. He and Hemming would be at the top of my list.

Look at Catton....

Look at his zone entrance variations....wow...even Suzuki is nkt créative like that on our team

He is treat...a top 5 talent easily.

If we draft 6th or 7th and we don't draft him..
We will regret it.

He has better numbers than Zach Benson last year..

I don't care, if the rumors are true and Nashville offered Askarov+picks for the 5th overall that was very stupid IMO to not take it. We would have the goaltender of the future at the perfect age and another pick to collect more assets.

Michkov or Reinbacher, it was never about the player but the value we could get from them.

Maybe it's just me that is very high on Askarov but IMO that trade would have speed up the rebuild process significantly.
You don’t drop down 10 spots for a f***ing goalie. We just got 2-3 in the same draft that are looking to be really good.

He is very special. I think whoever draft him will have a star forward. Any team that draft him will have to put him in leg strength training+ power skating and some off ice weigth training but sky is the limit for him.

For me, but I haven't seen enough of them all, particularly the bottom half of the list

Agreed about recrutes. For me Surin MBN have a very high floor and top 6 potential, so they would be a great pick at 20-28. that being said, If the WPG 1st is in the early 20s I d try to package picks to climb up to 10-12 like ARI did two years ago.

I am split on Hemming, not sure where to put him. I really liked the potential at the beginning of the year but right now the offense seems to die on his stick systematically, possible he needs more time to fully adapt to Liiga play. Now I d say he has a play style quite projectable at NHL level, I think he would benefit from smaller ice rink.

I personally would not spend much time planning who we may draft with the WPG pick. That pick will likely be traded in a package for a young player who can immediately join our lineup.

I'm willing to bet that there's no way the first 4 players off the board are forwards.....No way in hell that will happen.
The more I think about it, the more I think there's a good chance both Lindstrom and Eiserman go later than people think.

I think a lot of GM's in the top 10 are going to look at Eiserman's deficiencies and Lindstrom's injuries and have a hard time taking them if there's still super high end defensemen on the board or guys like Demidov/Catton.

It somewhat reminds me of the 2019 draft where Krebs fell significantly due to his injury and Caufield went way later than he should have because some people were afraid that all he brought was his shot.

They should not do it this year. Not something they should force to do every year.

We have no forwards prospects, it’s time to draft some.

Yep smaller rinks would help him for sure, he is a good skater, but the workload on bigger ice vs men hasnt been easy, he basically spends most of his shifts chasing the puck on a fourth line. I would bring him over to play 1 yr in the CHL to rebuild his confidence like St-Louis did with Dvorsky, then AHL the year after. TPS Turku is the last place you want a kid to develop.

Only time Bobrov picked a “smaller” player in the 1st round was when his team had multiple picks (Lundkvist when they already picked Kravtsov and Miller, Mesar when he already picked Slafkovsky). If they keep the Jets pick, I wonder if they do the reverse because there’s “smaller” forwards at the top of the draft. Helenius/Catton and then Letourneau later.
