I don’t think we’ll draft MBN due to us drafting too early and too late but he is having himself a game today.

Helenius intrigue me. What your comparable at NHL level for him? I think Catton and Iginla have higher offensive potential than him at NHL level. Helenius seem more better at defensive zone and become more two-way guy right?
I hate comparisons since each player is unique, but in term of IQ and talent level, he reminds me a bit of Suzuki. As for his offensive potential, I think he is right there with Catton and Iginla, but we will know more after the U18. Its much easier for kids to display their talent level in junior leagues than it is vs men.

@WeThreeKings
Where would you rank Reinbacher in this draft compared to the other dmen?

I know the question is for @WeThreeKings , but I would rank Reinbacher ahead of Parekh, Dickinson, Silayev, Yakemchuk and Buium.

The only D I would take ahead of Reinbacher is Leshunov. But it's pretty close to me.

Buium is my favorite though, but the two-way ability of Reinbacher is very very good and he will be one of D taking this year aswell.

Eiserman isn't overly special in that area, which is also why he’s dropping. Lindstrom, Iginla, Catton, MBN, Hemming, Chernyshov & Boisvert are all goal scorers nevermind the defensemen like Yakemchuk. Why would you draft a one dimensional goal scorer when other players bring that same value and more multi-faceted games.

I would agree if Eiserman hadn't shown the ability to do a lot more than just shooting. Will he be able to do it on a more consistant basis? That's the only thing we need the answer to and none of us has that information.

If we want to play the comparison game, Getzlaf dropped because people were questionning his compete level. He turned out alright..

It just isn't compete with Eiserman. Getzlaf brought playmaking, size, physical play, defensive play, scoring, both special teams play.

Eiserman isn't multi-faceted.

Even another pure goal scorer like Kessel had game breaking speed & was an outstanding playmaker.

Totally fair comment. But guys with an elite shot have had great careers over the years.

He’s had one season where he was less than a goal per game since he was 12. A long track record of scoring. I think he came close to breaking CC’s record this year. I’ve got to think he’ll be able to score at the NHL level. The best predictor of future success is past performance.

But I totally get why people wouldn’t want to draft him. You want a guy with heart who will be there when you need it. I don’t know if he’ll ever be that kind of player.

Those things can be taught though. You can’t teach that shot. Brett Hull wasn’t as good a skater and probably didn’t have Eiserman’s physical tools. Wasn’t a two way player and wasn’t physical. But he could score like crazy.

The heart and character, that’s what scouts have to figure out. Does he smoke pot and play video games all day? Was he just so focused on the record that he let it get in the way of his play? Is he coachable?

Hull played in a much different era. There were a lot more 50+ goal scorers. Goaltending is way better today. Defensive systems are way better.

It's not comparable.

Have you seen that shot? It’s as good as any shot in the NHL right now. It’s absolutely crazy how quick that release is.

Yes, it’s a different game but he’s a much better skater than Hull was. And he can pass the puck. The tools are there.

His potential is fantastic. Can he realize it? That’s another story.

The more I study the possible choices for the draft the more I want Catton. I still like Demidov but the weakness of the circuit where he plays can deceive. He remains my choice after Catton. Then comes Iginla and Lindstrom. With the choice of Winipeg, I would really like Basha, or Missa and if they are taken Boillard.

How about that Yegor Surin kid? Good production, physical, late birthday, kind of a maniac.
I haven’t seen more than a couple clips and part of one game, but he could be a big add and really fun prospect to follow. If he can translate the physicality and skill to the NHL - even just in a bottom six role - there aren’t a lot of players like him. From the little I’ve seen, the skill level is genuinely high and he’s just ferocious when he’s engaged. We don’t have anything like that in the pool and picking him up with an early second would be great value.

Catton will be a amazing consolation prize if Habs don't win a top 2 pick.

Tij Iginla is still the guy that I believe is the perfect player of what the direction want.

Catton will be the Cooley//Smith that people wanted.

Iginla will be the Leonard that people wanted.

He's going to go very high. First or second D man off the board.

He's a real athletic kid, already a pro physique. Got all the offensive tools you want, but not overly dynamic like a Quinn Hughes or a Makar. The questions are with the decision making defensively but with his size skating and athleticism he should be an above average defenseman in all facets whole being a coveted right shot.
