I am talking more like this
MTL #5
OTT # 8 - #28 (Boston)

MTL trade #5
for
OTT #8 + #28

OTT pick : Dickinson
MTL pick : Iginla

Then trade #25 (WPG) + #28 (Boston)
for a better pick (between #15-#17) and grab Connelly

Iginla + Connelly would be a awesome draft.

Well, assuming its on the table,

There is the risk you lose your player between pick 6-7 and there is no guarantee you will be able to move up with 25+28, and if you do, there is also no guarantee.

There is indeed a nice reward to it if your plan works. But there is also an inherent risk in it. I think its something teams with depleted prospects pool might entertain. Example San Jose moved down from 11 in 2022 but recoupled three top 40 picks for it. Their prospect pool was totally depleted.

We have another 1st this year, another one next year.

I just don't see the upside in trading down for another pick. The real upside here for me is getting your identified, wanted player at your spot and nailing your pick.

Kicked off 4 teams in a short period of time.
Treats his teammates poorly.

There's an athletic article on it, that's not a kid the Habs are touching for a variety of reasons. Culture is important and I don't think they'll want any first round backlash after Mailloux. Particularly when you think about the sizable Jewish community in Montreal and some of the awful events they've endured the past few years.
Kicked off 4 teams alone would have him on my ND LIST…..let alone the other shit stains that are attached to this disaster of a player!

Agreed. I would also add Eiserman to that batch of forwards. Goal scorers like this don't come by very often and whether the rest of his game needs a lot of work or not, goal scoring is one of the most important parts of hockey. Like I mentionned in a previous post, he's also one of the youngest players in the draft as he only about 2 weeks away from being a 2025 draft eligible. Add the fact that he has decent size and I can definitely see a team being interested in the Top 10.

We will see more of him during the U18's.
No disrespect but age does not mean more effort on ice. That was also an issue with Shane Wright. It is very hard to correct effort on ice and commitment.

He has the tools but he has huge bust potential.

Even at his worst though he’s still producing over a goal per game. Wright was having an off year and that’s not the case with Eiserman production wise.

We didn’t think Bossy was tough enough and not defensively strong and so we took Mark Napier.

We all have our high hopes on who Kent will pick the bottom line is sometimes we have no clue look at last year we all wanted to forward and took a defensive man

No but it can mean maturity level and development. If he's 9 months younger than some of these draft eligible prospects, it's a huge amount at that age (in terms of development time). Some of these kids are used to playing a certain way because they're great and they get away with until a certain level. I'm assuming Eiserman knows how he has to play to become a more complete player. It wasn't that long ago that Caufield was regarded as a mess in his own zone. I mean he will never be mixed up for Guy Carbonneau, but he has made some strides and is no longer as "horrible" as he used to be.

Anyways, all that to say that when players are this talented, just keep an open mind on what the possibilities and upside could be. I'm not vouching for him or anything, but anybody that has his stats deserves to be considered. He could very well not be the type of player HuGo are looking for however.

He's almost assuredly going to the Canes

Man after looking at a bunch of draft ranking sites and pages I am struck by how wide open this draft is after the first pick. Pick a guy and he could be anywhere from 3 to 10. I know others have been saying it but I was not prepared for what I saw. Team scouts will be earning their bucks this year.

He also took a dump in a teammate’s hockey bag a couple of years ago.

Its a function of a weaker draft. Aside from the first two picks and Eiserman not having the record breaking year, its just a so-so draft.

Anyone watched some Prince George?

Their 17yo goalie is 24-4, Kmec top RHD from Slaf hometown, top scorers all undrafted.

Kmec is fine hockey player, but I don't see NHL potential. Someone will give him a chance, but no us. We have so many better D prospects already.

Obviously there is not top 3+Michkov elite talent like last year, but a lot of interesting players here and I would never say this is a weak draft. 2017 was supposed to be weak draft, 2022 had "no elite" talent while both Slaf and Nemec are both playing very well in NHL already.
Demidov, Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla, Eiserman, Dickinson, Parekh, Silyaev and Levshunov, they all have first line/pair potential.

I'd say 1-2 compare to most drafts (not 2023), its after that that the talent drops. The likely #3s, Levshunov, Dickinson, Lindstrom and Silayev are most all 5-6 range picks in a strong draft.

2022 is still not a good draft. 2017 was just misjudged.

Last year was one of the best, If you take out Bedard , how these 2 draft compare.

I think it will look like this:
I think 2024 draft is a great one, comparable to last year if you take out Bedard.

Celibrini : 2024
Carlsson : 2023
Fantilli : 2023
Demidov : 2024
Will Smith : 2023
Levshunov : 2024
Reinbacher : 2023
Lindstrom :2024
Mitchnov :2023
Eiserman ; 2024
Dickinson: 2024
Leonard : 2023
Saliyev : 2024

There is no way Michkov is behind Demidov. Benson also is a better prospect than any of the 2024s after Demidov.

Silayev is a DND now. That looks nasty. Big man like that will have a longer road to recovery.

That isn't his leg turned outwards. His hips and skate are still facing forwards for him. Nasty.
Good to see he came back and played Novgorod's final game on Saturday, logging 14 minutes and change... He may be DND for the Habs but he has the potential to drop one of those forwards they'd target one spot further.
