Helenius is a weird one. Underwhelming to watch and ends up on the board a lot more than you'd expect. To me that either means I and others are underestimating his hockey IQ or he's a similar case to Lias Andersson.

I probably wouldn't want to take him just because I believe we need a true line driver and I don't see him being that the way I see Demidov or Catton being that.

and I'd bet on Iginla's trajectory before I bet on Helenius' tools. The difficult bet would be Helenius all around game and pro level production vs. Eiserman's tools but lacklustre game.

I'd still take Helenius over Eiserman just because I think he brings more to the table. I just can't get Hoffman out of my mind when I watch Eiserman, maybe it's aftershock of watching him shit it up in Montreal

when comments are made that guys are playing in men's league over the pond, it is still a huge jump to the NHL.
not sure the men's leagues are the be all end all. they still need to measure up in the nhl, which ahl is a huge jump for them
just my 2 cents

How close Caufield and Eiserman are at the same age? I remember Caufield dropping because of his skating and two-way game. We were pretty happy to draft him. I'm not saying they are the same, but we really lack goal scoring. I think they would really look at Eiserman if we are in the 7-10 group.

Helenius is the most meh option for me.. he's a great player but whenever I watch him I get Bs all across the board. I can't think of a situation where I'd want the puck on his stick when down a goal.. where I'd love to have the puck on Cattons stick.
I’ve seen a lot of flashes of an A grade shot and A+ grade playmaking, but it’s not ever consistent - which is frustrating. Hard to gauge whether he just doesn’t quite have those tools or whether he just isn’t that comfortable using them in the environment he’s in. What stands out every time is the compete, the IQ, and the little details. I’d take Helenius to score the goal if it was against a professional defence - that answer could likely change over the next couple years but what he shows with his overall IQ and ability to read the play is exceptional for his age.

If a team is confident in his character and ability to continue to grow his game, then developing his tools even marginally (or what may simply be utilizing them more consistently) puts him into a whole other tier of prospect than what I think most are considering him to be today.

I still lean Catton at this moment, but I think we’re under-selling Helenius.

A couple lessons from the trade market so far regarding BPA…
- teams can trade from a position of strength to fill a need.
- if you think the Habs D is set, look at the young group that buffalo just added to.

Both forward and D options should be considered after Mack and Demidov are picked.

Toffoli led the Habs in points in his only full season with the Habs. (2nd in playoffs).

That's a major knee injury

Silayev is a DND now. That looks nasty. Big man like that will have a longer road to recovery.

That isn't his leg turned outwards. His hips and skate are still facing forwards for him. Nasty.

Seriously, I do not understand how someone cannot like the tools and potential Catton has.
The tools, his ability to generate offense by himself, best PK goal scorer in the WHL. Also the fact that physically he is still a toothpick and when he will fill out and get stronger, he will be even more dominant. His upside is truly amazing

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but since it's related to Lane...

How does Cole Hutson compare to his brother? I see his draft ranking is very similar OT where Lane was pre-draft.
