My comment was more about Lindstrom vs Demidov. similar quality, he’ll pick for need.

The C/W are likely in a tier below.

Fans always want the high ceiling but Hughes needs a healthy top 6 C. He’ll make sure he has one at some point during this off-season.

Yup! Plus let's face it...Habs have great inside intelligence on the lay of the land in SKA St Petersburg. I haven't heard of any red flags with Demidov.

I'm not so sure.. they already have the size in their forward group with Cozens, Thompson and Tuch. I think defense is weak on their team and in their pool. That's likely the move they make.. the insane thing is we have to even discuss them..

The Ralph Krueger hire likely set the team backwards, as he stalled the progress of several young players (notably Dahlin) and failed to help progress the likes of Thompson.

Granato was the right hire to turn them around as individuals, but now they need someone who can teach them how to win in the NHL since talent is not the problem.....well, maybe in nets.

Demidov can carry a bad center, Lindstrom cannot carry bad winger, hes not a play driver and he would need someone like Dach or Suzuki to be able to do anything.

Im not even sure hes a C going forward. Hes a lot like Cozens.

Meanwhile Demidov can have a Kane/Kaprizov/Panarin/Kucherov like impact, all of whom have had more than decent years with subpar centers.

Is much more enticing than anything else. It gives us size on both lines and it gives us elite offensive talents on both lines. Not to be discounted too, he plays the right side and would be a perfect player to QB the PP.

If Dach is an afterthought, which I doubt he is,

Yes. With the wide range of defenseman available, he might fall out of the top 10. Still is a 1st-round talent though. Here is what Bob McKenzie wrote in his mid-season ranking :

U.S. National Development Team Program goal-scoring whiz Cole Eiserman, No. 2 on TSN’s Pre-Season Draft Rankings, has fallen to No. 4. But slipping two spots in the overall rankings doesn’t fully illustrate, relatively speaking, the precipitous decline the American forward has experienced in the eyes of some scouts. In September, one scout ranked Eiserman ahead of Celebrini at No. 1; five others had him at No. 2 and four more at No. 3. In the mid-season survey, conducted during the week of Jan. 15, Eiserman received only two second-place votes; three third-place votes; two seventh-place votes and one each for Nos. 5, 6 and 9. He’s still a top prospect but trending in the wrong direction, though there’s still plenty of time to reverse it. A teammate of Celebrini’s at Shattuck-St. Mary’s prep school, Eiserman’s more immediate challenge may be nailing down a spot in the top five rather than knocking Celebrini from the presumed No. 1 pedestal.
 
Note that I think were pretty weak at C tho. If Dachs health truly is in jeopardy, there must be a plan B.

Someone to also give some competition to Beck for 3C maybe too. Boisvert would pretty much be an A1 pick up. Should be in the 2nd 1st range, QC boi, size...

Jecho and Mustard are also two other bois I like. Mustard can lay the smear it all over the ice, hes f***ing fast.

I agree about Demidov.

I don’t think Dach will be an afterthought, but a player who requires redundancy, in case.

C/W - Dach (C/W) - Demidov

Newhook auditioning rn. Could be another trade. I think Hughes will have a solid plan for 2c before going with Demidov.

Here’s what I’d like to see.
- WPG pick + prospect for 2nd C or C/W
- draft Demidov
- hopefully a healthy Dach

Slaf - NS - Demidov
CC - (acquisition) - Dach
Newhook - Beck - Mesar
(2025 - )
