So TB clinched a spot in the playoffs so we’ll be receiving their 1st rounder for this summers draft, it’ll be no higher then 17th overall…Oliver Moore was TBs 1st from last year and he was 19th overall

Last season TB finished 13th overall but because FLA made the Finals they moved ahead of TB, or back of TB, for draft seeding…

Obviously hitting on a 1RD is the dream, question is is Levshunov that guy? I think he has enough question marks around him for it to be a vaild discussion either way

I'd honestly take Iginla over Lindstrom. He has such a good motor, would be a great fit for what we seem to be trying to build.

I’m hoping the hockey gods will bless us again with Celebrini lol. If not, I’ll take Demidov

1, 1: Macklin Celebrini
1, 22 (Tampa): Beckett Sennecke
2, 34: Yegor Surin
2, 52 (Kings): Harrison Brunicke
2, 62 (Vancouver): Raoul Boilard
3, 66: Ondřej Kos
3, 71 (Ottawa): Adam Kleber

Worse things could happen with that pick, than it turning into a Seth Jones.
For sure. That still counts as a hit. I just personally wouldn't call that a 1D.

But it's hard to know if any 1D comes out of this draft class.

Levshunov, Silayev, Parekh, Dickinson, and Buium are seen as the top D. You could extend that list to include Yakemchuk as well.

I don't think any of them are guaranteed 1D.

Silayev has the highest ceiling in the world, but who knows if he reaches it.
Parekh could be an elite offensive D-man like Erik Karlsson, or he's Erik Gustafsson.
Dickinson will be an NHLer for a long time, but does he have that next gear to reach 1D status?
Buium is a jack of all trades but he doesn't have any elite attributes so he won't be a 1D imo.
Yakemchuk seems more like a Brent Seabrook tier D-man at most. Good but not a 1D.

Personally I don't think Levshunov is that guy but his journey in hockey is really early. From Belarus to USHL to NCAA in three seasons. He obviously has a lot to learn. If we gamble on the tools its fine, I'm just way more partial to guys with elite hockey IQ and thats just not him.

I don't see any of these Dmen being a true #1. I don't see a lot of offensive upside with Silayev. I think Dickinson can be a very good #2. I think Buium has elite Hockey IQ and processing but not elite physical skills. Yakemchuk is a wildcard.

Not even concerned about the Tampa pick. What I am more concerned about is passing Anaheim since this team decided now of all times to start stacking several Ws over the last few weeks

Vlasic actually is a 1D, just not a dual threat. He’s already a top shutdown guy. Pair him with Levshunov (or Rinzel?) and the second guy only needs to be above average defensively and high end offensively for that pair to be elite.

I'll tell you I'm liking the more I see him play is Henry Mews on Ottawa. If we get a forward with our pick and Mews is still on the board when the TB pick comes up - I'd be happy to take Mews.

Ummmm I love Mews skating but he would be really overmatched being that tiny on the blueline .

I think Vlasic has vastly underrated O skills. He can rush the puck with the best of them. Finish maybe lacking but give him time.

He has his moments, but he’s not really a threat…yet. Still room to grow.

Regarding IQ--agreed,,,, Exactly why I am not very high on KK... his IQ/Instincts seem rather poor to average. My 2 cents

I would go with Parekh over Levshunov=much higher ceiling..he us by far the best goal scoring dman in tge draft..Not just an offebsive dman..His plus minuscis very good..He has greatly improved defebsiveky ..I am notcworried about that at all...Sure never er goibg to be physically dominant but he can use his stock like a Duncan Keith because like Keith he gets there with his soeedxand skatingvto cut guys off ..Sure you probably want to pair him with a physical big strong defensive STAH dman to clear the crease nut Parekh can impact hanesxwith mitli-piibts and scores lots of goals for a dnan...sonething Hawks do not have.. Unlike korchinski who lacks that hockey I Q. AND surprisingly is not "quick" despite his alkegrd "great" skatibg (I am nitcsurebifvthatcanymire) ,Parekh is quick and poised and realky is a good skater.. with the jockey sense you want in a dman to both excel 5x5 and as a goal scorer threatin 5x5 and the Pp.

I just think he has better ceiling than Levshunov....Levshinov only has size in his favour over what patek can bringing that aspect.. but I like Parekh 's pitential to difference-make much better.

Now with just 6GR priorv) to today's match with Minnesota,I ran the 7th ofc12xatremotsxusubg Takathon NHL Draft Simullatorcsince I began the experiment at 12GR...

So the result this time was Hawks drafting 4th as Seattle grabbed 1stxabdxAnheim got 2nd pick..

So thru 7 attempts the resukts for the Hawks are:

1st once
2nd zero times
3rd 3 times
4th 3times

Folks prepare for getting bumped down 1or 2 spots ..

I will continue this experiment before each remaining game after today's match (5 more tries).

He's listed at 6'0" 185lbs - why is that considered "tiny"?
Well its not tiny but , he certainly looks much smaller than that . I think that no way that he isnt still available in the 2nd rd. I wouldnt mind him with our 3rd rd pick or possibly the Vancouver 2nd rder.

There's still a couple months before the draft and many prospects will play a lot more before then - especially in the CHL with the playoffs and Memorial Cup - so things can and almost certainly change between now and then - BUT - as things stand right now with many of the prospect scouting publications Parekh won't make it out of the top-10 and may go top-5.

Have you watched Saginaw games? I've seen Saginaw play at least 6 or 7 times over the past month as I was watching Hawks prospects and their team happened to be playing Saginaw. He is the most dynamic draft eligible player with the exception of Celebrini and it's not "just" physical dynamism - it's mental quickness too. His vision is elite level but what is also exceptional is how quickly he processes and executes the play.
