Just a little love for Yak:
  • Speaking of Yakemchuk, he got the most answers of any player for the questions, “Who’s the hardest player to play against?” and “Who’s the most underrated player in this draft class?”

2024 NHL Draft Combine Notebook: What we learned
While I watch the playoff games I try and imagine who would have the biggest impact if inserted.
My short list this game includes yakemchuk

I can’t stop thinking about dickinson, silayev and yakemchuk (and probably buium) as top realistic picks.

Drafting Iginla we will truly get a top 6 forward and a replacement for Giroux. He will be better then Norris and Pinto combined. You can always find D (Zub), but you never ever find someone like Matthew Tkachuk, if you are not Florida, AG is not the son of the NHL hockey operations Campbell+ provincial tax heaven+good weather.
Iginla is not someone like Matt tkatchuk

I think it was lindstrom (??) who said in the combine interviews that Ostapchuk was one of the hardest players to play against.

After watching parekh play more and watching him speak more I like him way less.
“Speed size and character” is what we’re looking for?

Good luck to him.

Wouldn’t we take Lindstrom in that case?
I was going to say. But not so sure. I think dickinson might have a bigger impact.
Course there’s catton too ( I think he’d probably go instead of iginla or senneke in that scenario though )

We cannot forget "high hockey skill levels" (skating, shooting, puck-handling, play-making) as a key need.

I have seen many players who are big (over 6'1") and can skate fast (better than average) with "character" who do not contribute much to winning games (preventing GA and contributing to GF).

I am not saying we should draft Parekh over certain other players; I think Bob's list is as good as and better than most other lists of BPAs in the 2024 draft. Parekh is #9 on Bob's list, so he would not be a "reach" if we draft him at #7.

I can't see us taking Catton, but who knows, Mann and Dorion are gone and who knows how much they played into past picks and strategies.

We seem to be stressing Character, speed, size and hockey sense, I don't think any prospect in our range checks all the boxes, so who knows what we'll do.

Cattin checks all the boxes other than size, but his compete is excellent. If he’s there at 7 he’d be a huge win.

What do the Sens need? They need more players who are hard to play against like Ostapchuk & Yakemchuk. I'm just going to assume that if your name ends in Chuk you are a hard player to play against. Check Check Check Mate.

Sam Constanine from Sportsnet has Yakemchuk at #5 on his rankings.

The team needs good competitive players. I’ll take.Yakemchuk but don’t sleep on Catton

It's the weirdest year. There are literally eleven names I wouldn't be surprised to see Ottawa pick. Five will be gone, but that still leaves six when they pick. If someone like Silayev or Lindstrom slips to them, I think you have to jump on that. I've really only seen Buium play, so my opinion is worth zero. Because team lists are different, someone high on Ottawa's list will be there when they pick, and they'll be really happy with it.
