i like edwards, but this isn't the first time he's said some dumb shit since he entered the league

I don't know why some NBA players have no respect for the past/history of the game. You really dont see this in the NFL, NHL or MLB.

Ant sounds like the average Gen Z commenter on social media "hurt durrrp Jordan played against plumbers LeBron is way better !!1!1!

In the NHL, players today are almost get insulted. They’re all afraid to assign or be assigned certain numbers because of it.

The youngest millennial players (born 1985-early 90s), who are now considered old, are the last ones to have witnessed Jordan in his prime. I don’t even know if the oldest Gen Z players today even remember MJ playing in his Wizard days.

There definitely was a less skill at Jordan’s peak. Magic, Bird, Isaiah were all gone, and many of the big men were taking over. But the game was far more tougher and those two points are likely related.

IMO playing for the leagues lone Canadian team hurt his MVP chances. Not that he was ever "deserving" of one, but had his peak been for a different team Zi think he'd of done better with votes.

Can't be worse than the Miami Heat retiring #23 for noted franchise legend Michael Jordan.

Just looked this up.

I just, why? Honestly I'm surprised he didn't get the Hornets to do this too.

Ben Simmons is the greatest player in basketball, but only when nobody is watching.

Raptors finally woke up and realized that the Nets retiring his number first would've been a first class embarrassment to the franchise.

My guess is they wanted Lowry to be the first player to get the honor, but the Nets forced their hand when they randomly announced Carter would get his number retired.

Is the Nets ceremony really worth it?

5 seasons
2 all-star appearances

Games played is pretty close to toronto

Not at all. He wasn't even there for their back to back finals runs. It really makes no sense whatsoever. They'd be better off retiring Richard Jeffersons number.

Vince Carter was the first true superstar for the Raptors, his number being retired I have no problem with.

Yea I dont understand why some people do. Many have said that the Raptors may have relocated if they hadn't had him. Literally put Toronto on the map in the NBA world. He also inspired an entire generation of Canadian basketball players, without him I doubt Canada Basketball grows to the point its at now.

I can see why some people are against it, lets be real though.
The 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons, his last two were some of the most tumultuous times in the franchise. Him refusing to dunk, giving away plays in the final minutes to opponents.

Ownership and management at the time were a hot mess, they were not surrounding him with the help they needed. As for Vince, he was always getting injured and he at some times were just giving up on plays.

Fast forward to now, Raptors won the NBA title in 2019, Vince is going to the hall of fame. Looks like both sides have made amends since. Time to embrace Vincanity again, his number deserves to be up there.
