Yea I dont understand why some people do. Many have said that the Raptors may have relocated if they hadn't had him. Literally put Toronto on the map in the NBA world. He also inspired an entire generation of Canadian basketball players, without him I doubt Canada Basketball grows to the point its at now.
I can see why some people are against it, lets be real though.
The 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons, his last two were some of the most tumultuous times in the franchise. Him refusing to dunk, giving away plays in the final minutes to opponents.
Ownership and management at the time were a hot mess, they were not surrounding him with the help they needed. As for Vince, he was always getting injured and he at some times were just giving up on plays.
Fast forward to now, Raptors won the NBA title in 2019, Vince is going to the hall of fame. Looks like both sides have made amends since. Time to embrace Vincanity again, his number deserves to be up there.
