Next year's MLB schedule was released. I have 3* stadiums left on my list, although I'm not sure I'm going to count the A's temporary stop in Sacramento. But that'd be an easy flight for me, so maybe I'll stop by before they move to Vegas.

I'm missing Miami/Tampa plus Dallas (saw a concert there but not an MLB game). St. Louis is my asterisk since I got rained out when I went in July 2016. Looks like the schedule works in my favor....

Dallas is hosting the U18s next (late April-early May) so I was already thinking of going for the last weekend of that. Rangers host the Mariners, so I could probably catch the semis+finals and do a baseball game. Unfortunately there'll be a conflict with the opening round of the NHL playoffs.

And then the week after next year's All-Star break, I could scratch off Miami+Tampa and get a redo with St. Louis.

How do you handle parks getting phased out? Do you circle back when a new stadium opens or is it more of a franchise city thing?

My friend goes with the rule that he has to go back if the team gets a new park. He just went to the new Rangers park a couple weeks ago but he had been to the previous one. He did the same for the Braves last year.

We're unofficially racing even though the goal posts are always moving for him. He's missing Seattle, Tampa, and Miami. So an ideal world, I'd knock off the Florida parks with him. Originally we were going to go next month when the Padres are at the Marlins but he had work travel pop up.

My souvenir from each park is the ice cream helmet, so I don't feel as compelled to go back if there's a new venue. I never got to see old Yankee Stadium, Shea, and Candlestick. And on that note, I finally crossed Cleveland off my list in May and they didn't have any ice cream helmets. I was beyond annoyed. I grew up with Chief Wahoo, so I might just order an old ice cream helmet from eBay.

It looks like A's, Rays, Royals, and White Sox are the only teams with new stadiums planned in the near future.

St. Louis was tough since I was only there for one day before the next leg of my trip. I was in the stadium for a few hours and bought concessions. But they knew a storm was coming so they never bothered starting the game.

They stll do ice cream helmets? Those were great as a kid. At one point I had the mini bat from Yankees bat day the plastic batting helmet from helmet day and for years I had the Velcro wallet they gave away on Fathers Day. I was a big program guy and always bought a program for every game I went to. I’ve been to a decent number of parks given that it was not something I ever tried to do but I think making it a point to visit them all is fantastic. I wish I had done that when I was younger.

Programs would be great, but I think I'm just cheap. Ice cream helmets usually aren't too expensive and they fill my sugar intake.

Years ago I found a 1992 program that my dad bought me for a Twins@Angels game. This was a brief period when I was a Twins "fan" solely due to Chili Davis signing with them in 1991. Fortuitous timing with them winning the World Series.

Awhile back I was trying to catalog all of the non-Padres games that I've been to and I wasn't exactly able to pinpoint that Angels game. My dad's recollection (day game, weekend) was completely different than mine (night game, week day). What I recalled was that it was a rare day that he took off of work and he took me and my cousin to the game.

After I found the program, I was happy to discover that young me had filled out the lineup card. So I was able to determine which game it was. Timing checked out as I would have just been starting summer vacation.

The other layer to the onion was that my dad remembered that he originally took the day off because my mom had somebody visiting from out of the country. I think the implication was that it was an ex-boyfriend from back in the day and my dad basically was trying to tag along. She told him to buzz off and he took me to the baseball game to do something with the day.

Unrelated story from another Angels game I attended in 1999. Manny Ramirez hit a home run that landed nearby where my buddy and I had been sitting. My buddy recorded SportsCenter when he got home and gave me the VHS since we were "on" TV.

What he didn't tell me (or maybe he didn't realize) was that he had recorded the highlights over a porno. I remember popping in the tape as my mom was cooking dinner. It immediately transitions from baseball to a woman getting double teamed. Naturally I fumbled the remote but apparently my mom didn't hear anything.

My dad digitized a bunch of tapes in recent years and he had a bag of old VHS asking me if I wanted to keep anything. I told him about the porno gaffe and we had a laugh about that.

One thing that Cortez sucked, 1 hit in 7 innings is just sad. Cant win like that.

In hockey its normal to do a mid-season coaching change, do they do that in baseball?

Yankees have been the worst team in the league for what... 6 weeks now? How long is Boone allowed to skip the ship?

For all the amazing things Jeter did for this franchise… dumping that Stanton contract on the Yanks still hurts.

For anyone that played Bases Loaded on Nintendo. Aaron Judge is the real life version of Paste. The best cyber athlete of his time and he played for Jersey!

Dammit Alonso just got an 0-2 cookie there and did nothing with it.

Let's go Diekman. (Didn't expect it like that tonight).

Man that was a game of missed opportunities for both teams. Runners left in scoring positions... Mets had chances to blow that game wide open and didn't. Yankees had chances to come back, and didn't.

The whole set of relief innings were dicey.

Pitching barely saved Mets from that one going bad. They were a single or two away from losing the lead that game for multiple innings.

For Mets, McNeil getting mildly warm while the other hot guys cool down. Convenient but won't be sustainable if their other main guys don't pick it up again.

He is more than mildly warm. He is sporting almost a 1.400 OPS in the last 7 and over 1.000 in the last 15.

In past Mets seasons that 9th inning Judge is walking off a hero and Mendoza is gonna get ripped a new one. Ballsy move and it pays off. Feeling really good right now, just good vibes with this team. Been a fun couple of months that's for sure.

They desperately need 2 bullpen arms since the starters are not going deep enough and I don't trust the pen at all.
