The Canes seemingly broke all their rules for Slavin. Long term fairly high AAV for a mostly defensive guy. Surprised they didn't try to keep more of their defense together. They might end up in that mushy middle if they don't get immediate hits with Nikishin and Morrow and some of their forward prospects.

I really liked his game in this year's playoffs. He really bought in on the defense first mentality in Florida and it made a huge difference for them
