Easy explanation: every other bad contract that people tend to talk about does not involve an under-25 player.

Maybe not.. it would require the Canes to land 2 top forwards in free agency. Like Marchessault and Lindholm for example. I am not expecting that either but an option.

Rebuilding our top 6 if we lose Guentzel, we need a 2c, top 6 wings. its absolutely a rebuild.

I just worry about Jarvis durability at C, but he's smart enough for it.

Any idea of how Stamkos would do switching back as a 2C for a couple years? Right shot, his FO % over the past 2 years is still very good, and gotta believe he would goose the power play. Just wondering if he could be an out of left field plan B for the Borg if they could get him on a creative relatively short term deal like they did with Orlov.

If Guentzel does choose to leave, I wonder if the Canes do their large cap hit for FCs trick on Laine or (out of left-field) Kadri, who legitimately had an excellent year. They have the cap space for it.
