Wasn’t even good enough to make Sweden u18 team, this is a trash pick, bad numbers, bad size. should have taken Kiviharju or Poirier
There is something about Swedish or Finnish mobile D I find appealing. I'll take him just on that even if I have no clue how good his skills are.I'd wait until the Clark interview after the draft. I suspect a lot of raw skill and skating potential. You don't draft completely out of left field for fun.
That stat line suggest he’s not a second round talent. Like I said they could’ve taken him in the 7th round.not unless they felt he was a 2nd round or better talent
they know he's unknown, but they believed in burning that pick value for a reason
I'm always grateful to have insiders on this board who know every other teams draft rankings, so they can let us know how long a player will be around for. That stat line suggest he’s not a second round talent. Like I said they could’ve taken him in the 7th round.

I know absolutely nothing about him. But I’m getting Alex Edler vibes who was also taken out of nowhere in the middle of the draft by Vancouver because Detroit also identified him. The fact they took him in the 4th round means he was a late riser and another team likely was was thinking about taking him as well.
Nice to see some actual info on him.
He was known to the Leafs professional scouts.Given that he was known to precisely 0 professional scouting services, it wasn't just me.
He is 6 ft 1 and 165 lbs. Very mobile.I like this pick more if he’s 6’1 but we have done well with Swedish picks
And now he is forever tied to the production of Aron Kiviharju, a consensus early 2nd round pick who slipped and went 2 picks after Johansson. It's just bad asset management. Anything less to an equal career and this is a major miss by our scouts. I'll have no problem coming back to eat crow if he is successful, but I can guarantee you'll never hear from the "trust the scouts" group again. He was known to the Leafs professional scouts.
My thoughts as well. Know nothing about him. Trust our scoutsi think this could be a sleeper considering how unknown he is - when you're going that far off the board and he's underweight, the leafs must have really seen something
i need to see video of this kid
like is he potentially a kaberle?
Maybe by you, but obviously the Leafs scouts felt Johansson has a better upside than a guy who has been. In a free fall since being projected as a top pick. And now he is forever tied to the production of Aron Kiviharju, a consensus early 2nd round pick who slipped and went 2 picks after Johansson. You guys realize putting on weight is a very solvable problem right? He's 6 foot 1. Give him 5 years of eating and lifting and he is 185.
