If you dont agree with something I said that is fine. they are just my opinions. and message boards are places to discuss. not clue what ok fiddy means. Yes in general I thought we needed a full tear down, KD did that. we were bad without the the tear down. Yes I do think in a tear down you need to have a plan and stick to it. which KD has. is there a guarantee that it will work out like 2006/7 NO. But it has a better chance then the 3 retools we did over 6 years starting in 2016.
Didn't disagree or agree with anything you said... So what are you trying to say?

Hawks had McCavoy as a comparison for Lev

If they are right it’s a no brainer even if Demidov is the next Panarin. You don’t pass on franchise D

We will find out how good the scouts are, and how well we develop

Yea and Sennecke is a blend of Getzlaf/Perry and Lindstrom is the next Malkin. Teams are always going to have ideal comps lol

If ur gonna compare Lev to McAvoy then Demidov is the next Kucherov, who i easily pick above McAvoy. The Lightning were a modern day dysnasty with Erik Cernak as their top RHD lol

Lightning were good because they were rolling Hedman, Sergachev and McDonaugh (who played off hand on the right side often) and had prime Stamkos, Kucherov, & Vasi. You need elite players regardless of handedness to start and in a perfect world a couple a RH shot guys.

This was a D man draft. If they had him as their guy I have no issue with the pick.

I also preferred Lev over Demidov. It’s extremely hard to acquire top pairing D. Every off-season you see top end wingers available

Agreed. Especially if you can find a dman who is close to NHL ready. A rare find indeed. Is Lev in that category? We'll soon find out I reckon.

We needed the RHD, what don't you get about that? We already have our "Kucherov"/franchise caliber forward in Bedard. We also have a forward-heavy draft upcoming with another sure to be lottery pick. Plus a lot of other forward prospects already in the system. And tons of LHD. Noticeably low on RHD. Not a hard decision to make when you really think about it, IMO.

Just IMO, but I'd rather Lev stay the full year in Rockford.
No issue with this

Don’t want to rush young D

The other thing is D take longer to develop and we have been very smart in getting a surplus at that position first

That type of rebuild is how the Hawks won the first time. Teams that have done the opposite like the Leafs or Oil haven’t won Jack

I still have hope Levshunov turns into an absolute stud but I was pissed at the pick on draft night and even more pissed now.

I feel like the deciding factor in choosing him was simply the fact that the staff went to several Michigan State games, which would be incredibly stupid.

Let´s wait and see couple of years before we make any conclusions about these young players. It might take 5-6 years before we really know what kind of players they´ll be.

Still pissed Hawks took Jimmy Waite before Joe Sakic.
Naw, got to have the hot takes asap and if they are wrong you will never hear about it again but if they are right you get to hear it from the beginning and forever on.

Not true for everyone. Different sport but I was 100% certain Luka Doncic was going to be a bust "he's great in Europe but he's too slow for the NBA"

I was obviously very wrong and I have no shame admitting that. Hopefully I'm wrong again.

KD on draft day on what made Lev the pick: "The total package. He can drive offense, he can skate, he's super mobile, he's got good size, he's aggressive, he's a physical defender, and we think there's more upside to come. The package and potential growth is just so intriguing"

NHL scouts can be wrong. GM's can be wrong. Just doesn't seem like a huge mystery to me why he was picked. They scouted Demidov too and decided to pass on him, as did Anaheim and Columbus.

I was reading the Levshunov thread on the prospects board and it's nice to an extent reading what people who actually watch him have to say about it. I'm not sure I'd trust the opinions of some guys on HF over the pro scouts though. Prospects with great draft pedigrees that HF posters and pro scouts alike say have all the tools and will be great NHLers bust all the time.

Sounds like we added a 6'2" mobile RHD who is going to be all over the ice doing anything and everything well.

I think people also really overlook how valuable him being a true RHD is too. I’m really excited for this pick.

Also sounds like he has a high floor too given how he can do so many things well.

What makes you more pissed now?

I see no reason to think that levshunov will be anything less than a top pairing guy so far.

For me, it wasn't a matter of Levshunov being a future high-level D-man, because he has shown that he has what it takes to climb to at least a 2nd pairing guy with the high probability of being a top pairing guy - it was what else was available with the 2nd pick and which was the better option. I was and still am of the opinion Demidov was the better option ... but we'll so how it all turns out over the next several years.
